Somnifery was darkened for the evening. Weekend festivities were focused on a certain Miss Sumeragi's party, and for the purposes Dane needed to serve, that was perfectly alright.
The upper floor was the only one lit, with a line of comfortable chairs set up beside small tables. The bar was open, staffed with a single tender for the needs of the attendees, and a few small appetizers were available to satisfy any hungry guests.
Damien had hired a face for this occasion; a young man with no name and no purpose to the city, willing to do as told for the money it would earn him. It would do no good to be associated with the events of the auction directly, and if the government had managed to wrangle an invitation, he would prefer some silly boy be taken down in his name. Instead he sat in the shadows of the room, another silent, anonymous bidder. Waiting for the guests to arrive and take their seats before they began the presentation.
