Ken sighed as he settled into the darkened kitchen with his glass of water. His night had been a total bust, with the monster movie marathon that was being shown at the local theater ending early due to a malfunctioning projector. Honestly, equipment these days, you couldn't trust it.
It was late, and Ken didn't really feel like turning on the lights. He knew Youji wouldn't be home, due to his friend mentioning being out that night. Besides, his night vision was actually pretty good, so sitting around in the dark didn't particularly bother him.
However, the dark and the quiet were doing nothing to keep him awake, and he started to doze, his mind wandering down that weird vane that minds always take when given too much time and too little stimulus.
