And that head of messy, spikey and dark hair walked down the street. He readjusted the jacket on his shoulders and smoothed his pants out, and off of dust or dirt. Hokuto helped him pick out the outfit. He wasn't one for style, and when he tried, he failed miserably, and usually was made fun of for it behid his back. In his hand was a bouquet of flowers. Blue, red, yellow, purple and green flowers made up the bouquet. Inside of it was a small tag that said 'To: Rikku'. It was a congratulations gift for Rikku in winning the auction ( ... )

The sound of leather hitting concrete in the unmistakable tone of someone running made her turn in time to catch sight of the young man headed her way. She had to admit, even after his face had been half-maimed he was still cute. Except now, he wasn't so much adorable as just plain handsome. Rikku had always been a scar-loving sort of girl, and so it was no surprise that she could name every single blemish and mark on Gippal's body and tell him-and everyone else-exactly how he had gotten it. She always failed to mention that most of his scars were either because of her or for her, but that was probably because she didn't know. He'd always been good at keeping things like that secret ( ... )

Zack tilted his head to the side as he listened to that strange word. He blinked slightly as he watched her take the flowers and take his arm. Zack shook his head and looked down at her. He'd ask later about the strange language.

He looked up to the sunny sky which shone down on the two of them. "But of course," he spoke as he lead her down the sidewalk, watching as a few birds flew over their heads. Ah, daydreaming again, he thought before he looked down to the girl he had locked arms with. Zack stuffed his hand deep into his pockets before he grinned.

"Anywhere in particular you'd like to go, Rikku? I'm up for anything!" Zack exclaimed, "Sight seeing, movies, go out and eat.... anything, you name it!"

For not having dated before, he was a complete natural. The young thief automatically gave him ten respect points for asking where she wanted to go rather than picking for himself. But then, maybe that was just the logical thing to do, seeing as she was the person who had won him. For a split second, she reflected on how odd that sounded-she had won him in an auction. It wouldn't have been so unusual, except her people had never really been into that sort of thing. Cid would call it "demeaning" to both men and women. But then, Rikku had never really agreed with her father on much of anything except that machina was their way of life ( ... )

Zack followed her willingly and smiled as they made their way to the park. It was so peaceful and just bright here. He never went out to the park much nowadays. He used to go out to the park with his mom and dad when he was little, but of course times changed. He looked over to the fountain, his eyes widening in awe.

"Wow... it's beautiful!" he exclaimed as he walked towards the fountain. He almost dragged her over to it as he stared down into the sparkling water. "It's been forever since I've been to a park. Years at that!" Zack smiled, staring down at his reflection with a heavy sigh. "I used to go to the park with my parents. Play ball, and just hang out."

Zack turned and faced Rikku. "How old is this fountain?" he asked, tilting his head.

A low laugh trilled from her lips, and she let herself be led towards the base, something that hadn't occurred in a long while. She was used to being in charge, to getting her way. But to let someone else worry about all that for a split-second, even if the gesture was unconscious, was a sort of respite. She was just a normal girl on a date with a cute boy, and there was nothing important or ominous waiting at home or a few miles away with the rest of her people ( ... )
