Yeah...Elena had found a few things to take up some of her free time. But Tseng's obviously figured that much out. That didn't mean that it didn't likewise feel like an eternity for her too. Because there was a small voice in the corner of her head that just kept whispering the 'what if's. What if he was in trouble? What if, for one reason or the other, he wasn't coming back? What if this was the beginning of the end...

It wasn't that far from her apartment to the office, so Elena decided to just go there on foot. She was only half in uniform, neglecting to take the time to put on her jacket or tie. She'd rather just get there as fast as she could, to see him and be sure.

The last intersection before headquarters almost cost her precious time. Elena was so eager to see her boss that she didn't even notice the traffic light. She was halfway across when she heard the urgent honking of a horn and the screech of tires. She pulled back just as the car came to a screeching halt in front of her. Elena barely took the time to blink before she was opening the back door of the strange car, scampering across the back seat, and out the other side without so much as an apology to the startled driver.

She was slightly out of breath when she burst through the door of headquarters, but not as much as she would've been in the past. Rude and Reno's training was starting to pay off. Her eyes located and focused on the Asian man, never straying from him as she made her way deeper into the room.

And that's when she noticed the humming.

Elena's expression suddenly turned sad...beyond sad. Her shoulders slumped as a sigh escaped her lips. "Shit. I'm just having that dream again." The one where Tseng had returned. Because there's just no way...no way that Tseng would actually hum.
