Sebastian prided himself in his remarkable culinary skill. It was true that his engineering had been specifically designed to allow him to learn most things with extraordinary speed and accuracy-- however, cooking was one thing that he seemed to excel in, even further beyond all his other unusually efficient talents. He had perfected crème brûlée and made chocolate an art. In fact, almost every night before bed, the butler prepared for his young mistress a habitual treat: a chocolate rose in a glass of warm milk.
However, that night, Sebastian had put his culinary skill to something that he had never served before in Rhode's household: buttered toast and a glass of water. Of course, the butter was neatly and evenly spread over golden bread-- neither too toasted or under-toasted-- and the water was just the right temperature of cold. However, it was still toast and water. It looked like he intended it to be toast and water for some time. And if he mistress cared to search the kitchen, she would find that her wonderfully efficient butler had cleared most traces of anything remotely delicious.
But his deeds went slightly further. He found that, with his superior strength, tugging the TV cord just so snapped the thing right in the middle. It was a shame-- but that meant no more late night shows. Sebastian had spared the computer-- mostly because it was in his lady's room, and the sadist in him wanted her to find these small changes in her household to be a surprise-- but it was on his checklist, should Rhode prove stubborn.
And after all his mischief, Sebastian still found time to busy himself with arranging a vase of flowers for one of the house's coffee tables, artfully setting yellow roses in a round glass vase.
