The solitary kitchen light hung overhead, illuminating the center tiles and leaving the corners of the room shrouded in darkness. Mello was seated at the two-chair table, his elbows propped up, one hand fisted under his chin and the other hovering over the keyboard of a sleek black laptop. The screen didn't seem to hold his attention well, as he kept glancing toward the entrance of the kitchen between intervals.
"Taking your time?" the blond assassin called, pretty sure Matt would hear him from the other room. "I put the turkey meat out for you, but there's pastrami and ham in the bottom drawer of the fridge in case you want something else."
