At his words, her eyes grew wide, almost frightened. Usually, when she kissed a man, he tried everything in his power to go further. The next step was to have the kimono he had taken careful time to put on her ripped away from her body. When he leaned in toward her, she breathed heavily and tilted her chin up, her eyes closing, but his lips touched her forehead. Shaking, she put a hand on his chest, but removed it as the blanket was pulled over her body. Looking at his calm face, she grew almost angry. And as he spoke his next sentence, she was close to snarling at him, but she was still almost afraid, feeling like the child she had never had the chance to be.
No, no, this was not going as planned. Then again, she never planned anything. Her head swimming, her stomach ill and her body aching in several different ways, she knew this was not the best thing to do. But it was what she wanted. For over 48 hours she had been awake, nearly 72 without food, so maybe she was not the most stable individual for the time being. Yet when Jinx wanted something, she was not going to give up.
Then again, this situation was... different. There was just something... something she...
Coming in toward him again, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, she pressed her lips to his once more. Kissing him, melting into him, trembling. Putting one hand on his chest, she pulled away just enough to whisper to him, "I'm sorry... it's just... I just... I need..." And then, in the midst of all her confusion, she showed a very human emotion, which was rare in front of anyone. Compassion, sorrow, hurt feelings were all something so deep within her that only something like this could bring them out. And after kissing his cheek, trying not to cry, she could only beg him, "Hold me..."
Shunsui watched her carefully, and the range of emotions she expressed. He suddenly felt very guilty.
"Shh... it's alright. I promise I wont leave you tonight" Shunsui said softly, taking Jinx up into his arms and cuddling her against his chest. "I'll stay like this until morning" he whispered, stroking her hair back and rocking gently.
"Okay," was what Jinx told him, nodding and trying her hardest not to cry. As he took her into his arms, her body felt incredibly numb. Pressing her head into his chest, she listened to his strong heartbeat, trying to calm down. In the midst of everything, she leaned up and kissed his neck quite a few times. She took in the scent of Shunsui, tried to remember the exact rhythm of his heartbeat, even what he had tasted like. Her heart was pounding and she... she was scared.
If Gin could leave her, then what else could happen? Who was next to run away from this town and leave her behind to die. She did not want to die... yet all these years she had been living for a lie that was her own doing. What did she live for? What was the purpose for her to be the only one of her family that lived on? The only one who did not get slaughtered that night? Why...? Was it for moments such as these, where she was held in the strong arms of a man who cared enough for her to stay like this all night? ...when Gin had pushed her away every moment she needed him, every time she tried to touch him... and even when she smiled at him, even when she did good things, he still acted like she was so much less special than people like Rhode or Hei.
Now she cried, now the tears fell from her eyes. Every time she cried, things began to explode, such as Billy and Teddy's television set. But this time she was too mentally exhausted for anything more to happen than the back luck of the pillow to fall off the couch. "Please... please don't leave me... I know I don't mean anything to you, but don't leave me... I know I'm broken, I know nothing can ever fix me, I know I'm a bad person... but please don't leave me..." Trying to be stronger than this and failing, she wiped her eyes on the sleeve of the kimono she wore.
Shunsui couldn't imagine the things going through Jinx's head. It was surely the culmination of a great deal of stress and anxiety, but Shunsui was starting to find himself at a loss. He wanted to do everything he could for her.
"Shush, don't say such things. I'm not going anywhere, nor is Jushirou. No one is ever a truly a bad person, and I deeply believe there isn't anything that can't be fixed" He assured her. "Close your eyes, and go to sleep. I'll be here in the morning when you wake again and everything will be a little better"
"Thank you..." she told him, nodding and cuddling herself as close to him as possible without doing anything drastic that her body would probably not be able to handle at the moment. Though that did sound like it would calm down this side of her. Yet sleep was what she truly needed for the time being, not a wild night... they both sounded appealing. Those thoughts soon faded as she repeated those words over and over again in her head. No one is ever a truly a bad person, and I deeply believe there isn't anything that can't be fixed. She felt like a bad person, by definition she was, and she was more broken than any other living being she had met... so why did she begin to believe him? Why was it that now, as she was calming, her heart beat faster? Once more, she felt nauseous.
"In the morning," she told him softly, wiping her eyes again, "I expect a shot of straight vodka or two." Trying her best to smile, she leaned up and kissed his lips once more, this time making it very long, feeling closer to him than any other living being for now. When she pulled away from him, barely breathing, her entire body relaxed and she became a dead weight in his arms.
"I'm a fucking psycho..." she mumbled to herself, her sanity finally taking over and shutting her body down. "...because right now, I can't tell the difference of me wanting to bang you..." Her eyes refused to stay open, her brain shutting down nearly every operation of her body. "...or me falling for a guy I ran into on the streets. Don't listen to me... I'm a fucking psycho..." And her last words before she fell asleep (more like passed out) were, "Why was I always the dumb twin...?"
Shunsui had to wonder if she'd feel the same way in the morning. Probably not, Shunsui was probably getting ahead of himself like usual. Just like imagining and unspoken relationship with his best friend for over 20 years. ...well, not exactly. As Jinx slept, Shunsui was left alone to stay awake with his thoughts.
What was he going to do, ask Ukitake to keep her? Force himself to deny he was getting attached? That'd be the best for Jushirou. But how on earth was he going to help Jinx heal AND keep Ukitake safe at the same time?
He wouldn't give up either of them, so compromise wasn't an option.
At least he had all night to come up with a solution. One thing was certain, he'd be beating Jinx to the vodka.
