Not a lot of people would head to a bar for lunch, right? But there were always some.
Badou had a couple of reasons for suggesting the Warrior Princess for this meeting with his new potential client. For one, he knew it-and in this case, by "knew," he meant trusted that whatever confidentiality Mr. Mystery-Man wanted kept wasn't going to be compromised by loose-lipped staff. And for two, it meant that he got to have lunch with Schuldig-and by lunch he meant that he was bringing along some of the almond gazpacho that he'd made the night before and which had actually turned out really well.
So Badou had arrived a little before his scheduled meeting time with Mr. X-guy hadn't left his name in his voicemail message, but that was okay with Badou, because he understood that a lot of people who wanted to hire a private investigator were kind of antsy at the get go.
He was seated at the bar, customary lit cigarette between his lips and a glass of soda in front of him, as if this was a social call, which really, until his mystery man showed up, it was.
