Youji was working on some paper work for the shop when Kurama came in, so he didn't notice the other man right away. However, after he wrote down a few more calculations he saw a flicker of movement from the corner of his eye and his head snapped up to look at Kurama. Happy to have an excuse to ditch the paper work, Youji tossed down his pencil and came around the counter to approach him.

"Hey. Kurama, right?" he asked as he held his hand out towards him for a handshake. Youji wasn't quite sure himself why Kurama wanted to work at a flower shop, of all places, but he had seemed quite interested in the flowers, so that was a start. Youji was great with customers, but even he had trouble with some of the more exotic plants.

He turned, slow and steady, to gaze wordlessly at the other man with piercing amber eyes. He made no attempt to conceal the way he looked Youji up and down - nor that he liked what he saw.

His ears flicking gently in his bleached-white hair, silver tail twining lazily about his legs, Kurama extended his own hand, large and claw-tipped and callused from years of handling his revolvers.

"Youji," he said simply, and as his lips moved, they revealed his pointed fangs.

He'd never made it a habit to conceal his...rather odd traits. They weren't his fault, he'd had no say - and he did enjoy the attention they got him, male or female.

In his distraction Youji had missed Kurama's less-than normal features, but now that he was getting a proper look at him he couldn't help but stare. Youji distractedly shook his hand while his eyes were fixed on the flicking of his ears. However, after a moment, Youji shook himself from his fixation and he gave Kurama a rather bemused grin.

With his attention away from Kurama's ears, Youji finally noticed just how interested Kurama's gaze was, but he decided not to comment on it. Youji didn't want to think about how many guys had been checking him out or flirting with him lately.

"So-uh...right," he said, fumbling his words before he managed to collect himself and continue, "You said you'd be willing to give me a hand here, yeah? The boss had some exotic plants that need special care, but, hell what were you thinking?"

Youji was more than a little grateful that they had some actual business to discuss, since it provided a quick distraction.

Kurama couldn't quite stop the chuckle that rumbled from deep in his chest, both at Youji's fixation with his ears, and at his obvious reaction to Kurama's interest. He let both slide, though. Time enough for that, later.

"Call it curiosity," he explained. "I saw the plants once - they caught my attention. And your...'boss' was quite adamant that no one could handle them but him."

He grinned, fangs glinting. "I never could resist a challenge."

Youji shrugged as his expression settled into a more comfortable smile. For now, he was just going to do his best to ignore Kurama's ears and tail, though this was a rather difficult thing to accomplish.

"...No surprise there. He was pretty damn egotistical," Youji replied with a chuckle, "But hey, you're more than welcome to mess with those plants now."

He paused and looked Kurama over once again.

"That all you want to do here, then? Look after the plants? No customers or anything?"

Kurama laughed again, softly, and for the first time, called attention to his physical attributes, lifting a hand to run his fingers gently along the curve of one ear.

"As you've noticed," he said carefully, "I'm not exactly...normal. Nor am I what might be termed a 'people person'. So, yes - I am here to tend to the more exotic plants in your shop."

He thought for a long moment. "Although, I suppose if anyone were to show interest in such plants, I would not be adverse to serving them."

And then he shrugged lazily. "I've got another job, as well - I intended this to be something more of a hobby, if that's all right with you."

Youji couldn't help but eye Kurama's ears again, though he refrained from commenting. A guy with ears and a tail probably got a enough wise ass comments, he didn't need more from Youji. Besides, he didn't want to antagonize a guy he had to work with. Not so quickly, anyway.

"Hey, that's cool. I don't need a whole lot of help and I've got buddy of mine giving me a hand here, too. I've got the whole customer thing under control, so you can just worry about the plants, yeah?" He leaned back against the counter as he spoke, fingers tapping against the surface absently.

Honestly, he was glad someone else would be looking after the 'exotic' plants. He'd been considering phasing those out before Kurama offered his help.

[OOC: I'm so sorry this took so long. ;;;;]

He hummed, rather noncommittally, though inwardly, he was quite pleased with how well this was all working out. Now, to deal with the plants...

He began to make his way toward the key above the front counter, the one he knew he'd need to get into the back room where the plants were.

Idly, he glanced over his shoulder.

"You're allowed to comment on them, you know," he mentioned, gesturing at his ears and giving his tail a flick. "I hear so much, I doubt you could come up with anything original."

Youji just watched as Kurama made his way over to the key, though he was a bit surprised that Kurama already knew his way around the shop so well already. Though, it did sound like he'd come in and dealt with the Boss before, who had definitely been a bit of a show off when it came to his plants, so Youji just shrugged it off. However, Kurama's comment about his ears caught Youji off guard and he grimaced as he rubbed the back of his head.

"But...man," he looked down at the floor for a moment before a grin pulled the corners of his lips and he tilted his head to look at Kurama, "Where would be the fun in that? It's gotta be original, you know? I don't want to repeat the same damn questions and comments as every one else."

Youji was curious, admittedly, but he wasn't interested in being quite that nosy the first time he met the guy.

Kurama laughed, returning the grin, and a coy glance as he hooked one clawed finger into the chain of the key and turned, swinging it lazily.

"Well," he remarked, "then I suppose this all depends on how much imagination you have, doesn't it?"

Oh, he supposed he shouldn't lay it on quite so thick - he'd only just met the poor man, after all. But what Kurama wanted, he went after, and generally got - if only through sheer perseverance.

Youji arched an eyebrow at Kurama and tapped his fingers on the counter he was leaning against. A vague smile touched his lips, then he shrugged and shook his head.

"True enough, still you've probably heard 'em all before. But, hey, I'll let you know if I think of anything, man." Even though Youji tried to disguise his discomfort with a grin, even he knew that it was fairly obvious. It was one thing to flirt with a guy via messages but having a guy flirt with him so directly was disconcerting.

"...Anyway. What's the plan? You just gonna swing by every once and a while to maintain the exotic plants? I don't think I need to bother scheduling anything. You cool with that?"
