WHO: Vincent (
pistola_assunta ) and Lucrecia (
illusiondamage )
WHAT: Lucrecia found old files and thought Vincent should see them
WHEN: Early afternoon
WHERE: AMC lab
pistola_assunta: Vincent had popped a few aspirins on the way to the lab, driving a little faster than usual. He had been having a bad few days, and now he was going to see Lucrecia. His head had stopped throbbing a while ago, but he knew the pain would come back. Atleast Chaos was calm for now in his head. Throwing on his coat as he left the car the ex-hitman looked around the entrance to the building before entering, always worried about his surroundings.
A nod to the security on duty Vincent passed through the doors as he was buzzed in, and went to find the woman who he believed could actually help him.
illusiondamage Lucrecia had asked Hinata to run a few errands for her that day so the young girl wouldn't be in danger of running across Vincent when he came over. She didn't want to scar either of the people she cared most about by having them meet on an off day. Lucrecia herself was nervous about this meeting. She'd been worried about him since she saw his latest entry.
When she was alerted to his presence in the building, her head snapped up and she went straight for the door of her office / lab, opening it and standing outside with her hands clasped behind her, waiting for Vincent to come into sight. He didn't take long and her face broke into a nervous smile.
"I'm glad you could make it," she murmured as he got closer, motioning with a hand for him to step inside.
pistola_assunta: Vincent's hair was a little untidy, unlike him, looking a bit disheveled. He had finally got some sleep the other day and was feeling better. But when he saw Lucrecia his heart instantly started killing him, barely able to keep himself from toppling over in pain.
A nod was given to Lucrecia, his eyes meeting her's for a moment. She was still so beautiful.
illusiondamage: Lucrecia knew something was off just by looking at him, though she had never been very good at figuring out what was bothering someone. She'd tried before, but.. the results of reading body language were mixed.
She stepped inside after him, letting the door slide softly shut behind her. For a moment, she kept walking, heading for the desk towards the back of the small office room. Upon reaching it, she paused, one hand resting on a small pile of papers stacked on the piece of furniture. A few tables stood off to the side, along the walls, and several chairs had stationed themselves in front of the desk.
Letting her nerves slow for a minute, Lucrecia lifted her hand from the desk and turned to face Vincent. "This may not be a good time, but... I thought you should know. I came across some old files the other day and... one of them mentioned you. I just wanted to be sure... that you really are doing okay."
Worry was written deep in her eyes. For all that she was no good at reading other people, she herself wore her heart on her sleeve.
pistola_assunta: The tall man stepped inside, looking about the lab. Bad memories? Perhaps, this wasn't his favorite type of place. Atleast there weren't PEOPLE being experimented on at the moment.
Following close to the woman he narrowed his eyes when she mentioned finding files, about him. That man had the nerve to document what he did to ruin me, Vincent thought to himself. He looked a little angry for a moment before deciding to find out what those files contained.
"What do they say?" he ignored the question.
illusiondamage: The brunette had sworn off human experimentation a long time ago. Nothing of the sort would ever happen in her lab again.
Lucrecia's face fell when Vincent went straight to asking about her recent discovery. She'd hoped to be able to find out how he really was doing, but apparently he wasn't going to bite that particular bait. It wasn't in her nature to pry, so she let it slide with a soft sigh as she turned back to the files. Picking up the top paper, she turned and stepped back over to him.
"There's not much, but... This particular piece says something about a substance given to you and then goes on to list a number of side-effects, including something called 'Chaos.'"
She looked back up at him, still worried. "I don't know if this means anything to you, but I thought you should know."
pistola_assunta: That's good to hear. Human experimentation was no fun! Well, no fun for the person on the table.
Vincent moved in closer to look at the files. He couldn't believe that they could have known about "Chaos", was it possible. The ex-hitman was interested in what she had now, and needed to see.
"It does, it means a lot to me..." he said cryptically.
illusiondamage: Lucrecia sighed audibly this time and held the sheet out to him. "As I said, I don't know much about it. He didn't write a lot about this, not half as much as the other, but... I'm not sure if you were exposed to Jenova. I don't think you were, considering you weren't mentioned in those reports, but... well one can't be too sure."
She looked up at him as she waited to see his reaction, still overly worried about the whole thing.
pistola_assunta: For the moment Vincent poured over papers, flipping forward then back. He wasn't the smartest man, and knew very little of biology and the like, but seeing diagrams of his body, his brain, reading all the things put into his body...it was just a little much.
"I can't believe this.." he said quietly, holding the paper still. "Lucrecia...did you know about this?"
illusiondamage: Lucrecia watched Vincent read over the papers she'd handed him, hoping he wasn't about to go off on her for this. Her head shook visibly in answer to his question.
"No. I had no idea until I came across them a few days ago. I would have.. told you before this if I had."
She honestly would have. At this point in her life, nothing like that would be kept a secret from him and she firmly believed he deserved to know what had happened to him. "I'm sorry..."
pistola_assunta: "It's not your fault," he answered, trying to make up for sounding so harsh a moment earlier. He placed the paper down, and took a step back from it. If he didn't he would probably stay there for hours trying to make sense of it all.
"He really did screw with my head," he thought aloud, holding his hand to his forhead. Too much information all at once.
illusiondamage: Lucrecia had to hold herself back from trying to make absolutely sure Vincent was going to be okay. Maybe she should have waited to show him everything...
"I shouldn't have... I should have waited. I'm sorry." She sighed again, head automatically turning away from him even though her body did not.
"It is my fault, though. Vincent... If there's anything I can do to help... I don't know what help I may be, but if I can do anything for you... please tell me."
There was so much she wanted to do for him, to help him, to make up for the wrongs she had done him.
pistola_assunta "It's better than I know," he said with a slight nod. Standing up straight Vincent stepped closer to Lucrecia, allow his hand to go out and touch her's. "Thank you Lucrecia.." he said softly.
illusiondamage: Lucrecia's breath caught as the hands snaked their way into her line of sight and caught hers. Her head snapped back up so she could meet his eyes. With a very hesitant sort of smile, she gave his hands a gentle squeeze.
"It's the least I could do... I don't want to make assumptions of what happened, but if the substance make-up is right on the files, then it might have altered your mind a little. If that is the case, then I should be able to create something to combat that. It would take me a while, but..."
Her head tilted away from him again. If she could make something to make his life easier, even slightly, then she would gladly do it, gladly spend as much time as she had to on that project. She just wanted him to be happy. She owed him that much.
pistola_assunta: "I don't want to ask you to do anything, but you're the only one I could trust to do this..." he said looking off at the instruments, then back to her. "Please, can you help me?" he asked, the pain in his eyes obvious. There was a lot he wasn't telling her, but at least he was recognizing her as his only help.
Letting go of her hand, Vincent ran his hand through his hair, trying to calm himself.
illusiondamage: Lucrecia let him pull his hands away, taking a deep breath before she looked back at him. For the first time, she was able to see what he was going through and it hurt knowing she was the cause, even if indirectly.
"I'll try, Vincent. I don't know what can be done, but I'll do anything I can to help." Which she would. She wasn't about to leave him alone with this. "I'll let you know when I come across new things, but... it's going to be slow going." She wished she could speed it up, particularly for him. If she could help only one person in her lifetime, then it would be Vincent. She would give this new project everything she had.
pistola_assunta: Vincent gave a nod to Lucrecia. "If anyone can figure it out it would be you," he said to her, before checking his watch.
"I need to go, call me if something comes up."
illusiondamage: Lucrecia didn't want him to go, didn't want to watch him walk out that door again for fear that he'd walk out of her life again, but she didn't stop him, couldn't.
"I will," she murmured, worried brown eyes watching him carefully. "If anything comes up, or you need me for anything... tell me." It was a long shot that he would ask for anyone's help, but she had to try.
pistola_assunta Another nod was given to the woman before he was gone, just a flash of his coat as he exited.
illusiondamage: Lucrecia sighed, watching him leave. She waited for a few minutes before calling Hinata. She was going to need a hug after this.
