The coordinates burned through her hand. She needed time, the people continued to tell her. She needed backup. She needed her, she needed him, she needed a goddamn plan and control. Running through the warehouse district, Jinx needed no one else in this world... just as this world no longer needed her. The young woman had let go. There was only one thing left she needed to fight for, then death would fall upon her without regret. Jushirou's life was worth so much more; he could help the world, save it from all the pain that she would only cause. For years, all she had done was hurt people, and over the past months she had been trying her hardest to correct that. This was the way. There was nothing she seemed to be able to do breathing, so she would sacrifice her life in her father's name, for her father. And everyone always knew she was going to go out with a bang ( ... )

The belle of the ball.

"I was afraid you wouldn't show up, kitten." Freeman slowly, deliberately shifted into an upright position, before moving to the floor, the razor held between his fingers as his arms dropped to his sides. His hair shifted, showing one red eye in what paltry light was available within the warehouse. "Glad to see you came first, and not one of his other children." His body looked leaner than usual, more hungry. He hadn't killed in some time; with all the death coming from elsewhere, he didn't see a need. He could have killed the old man, but it served no purpose, either. One could say he was starved. Starved for blood ( ... )

His voice came to her ears before her eyes fully adjusted. That voice that haunted her dreams coiled around her, pricking every inch of her skin with chilling fear. This was the man who had stolen her soul. This was the man who nearly ripped the life right out of her chest. He was that pair of eyes she could always feel burning into her over her shoulder. He was the boogeyman, her worst nightmares in human form, and yet her body quivered with a yearn for his touch. The first thing that came to her eyesight was a flash of metal, and then the gleam of a red eye. Slowly, the rest of his form came into vision. All she felt was fear... and all she could think about was how thin the man looked. Jinx would never admit that flash of concern to herself.

"You owe me more than just flesh... I want your heart," because you nearly destroyed mine. "And you should have learned by now never to expect anything from me." He was approaching her, making it difficult for her to stand her ground. Part of her wanted to run, the rest wanted to drop her ( ... )

The report of the guns was bright in the darkness, and loud. Very loud. Freeman didn't seem to mind, almost welcoming the noise as bullets began showering his location. However, his feral body had the signs of a trained contortionist, and with an unnerving liquid quality, he twisted himself among the lead hailstones, moving like a macabre dancer and staying nearly unscathed ( ... )

Blood, blood, BLOOD! She saw blood and it made her grin, made her thumbs itch, made her pulse beat faster, faster. Shooting Freeman would be too easy, it would be so anticlimactic. That growl made her know what was coming a second too late. She dropped the empties guns to the ground, about to flip back before she felt something all too familiar across her flesh. His blade cut through the holsters over her chest, slicing across her sternum, letting sweet blood run down her chest. She cried out sharply into the dying echo of gunfire. Damn it, he was too fast. Before she could even breathe, she made contact with the cement floor. Growling, she rolled back over her shoulders, springing to her feet, then flipped backward twice before landing sloppily on her feet ( ... )

This is new.

Freeman lost all sense of direction as the ground exploded around him in flashes of energy, feeling his feet disappear as he pitched forward. The fall kept the gunfire from hitting its mark, but the suddenly airborne rubble cracked against his body, stinging deeply into his flesh. He felt something crack in his side, and laughed. Laughed hard. Laughed until it was no longer a laugh, and more of an animalistic chortle, like that of a hyena or hunting dog. Springing forward, he dropped his razor to the ground, opening his hands as he ran towards the flashing origin of the bullets, the crackling electricity of those eyes he recognized as a reflection of his own.

With a shriek, his body collided with Jinx, and he wasted no time, his hands ripping across whatever they could find purchase on. His nails bit into flesh, tearing away skin and opening the floodgates of blood. His eyes were wide, his mouth set into a permanent smile. He rose up in front of her, glaring directly into her pupils. "Then do it, Jinx. DO IT!" He thrust ( ... )

His laugh burned her, smothered her, and along with that laugh, through the ringing of gunfire, she heard screaming. It was not until she was on the ground, lying on her back, bleeding heavily, unable to breathe... that she realized that screaming was her own. His eyes, all she could see was his eyes in flashes across her vision, a vision dulled by so many blows, so much blood. I'm going to die, aren't I? His hand did not penetrate her stomach, but he got through the flesh. And her ribs... he shattered them once more. I'm going to die tonight. Closing her eyes, she flexed her fingertips, no longer clutched around a gun. I'm... not ready to die yet... Jinx's trembling hands clenched into fists. ...not without taking his ass down with me.

"I... am not... you..." gasping between words, she pulled her broken body up, moving to stand. Though her legs were steady, the rest of her seemed limp, head down, hair covering her face. "I... will NEVER... be you..." Her fists sparked and the ground around her began to crack. The shards of cement in ( ... )

His expression never changed as the world around them was enveloped in chaos; that smile remained, fixed like it was etched directly into his skin. It remained as the swirling forces buffeted his body, as debris from all angles pounded against his flesh, tearing cloth and skin. It remained as they faces each other, her eyes wide with madness to mirror his own. It remained as the first wave of sheer power tore into him, making every inch of his body quiver with shock and pain.

"YES! NOW WE'RE ALIVE!"

He stumbled back, the waves of force against his body too much... and kept smiling. This was what he was waiting for. His body felt an ache he'd never experienced. Was it pain? Perhaps. Longing? Likely. Anticipation? Most definitely. In the darkness, all he could see was the magenta sparks surrounding him... and their point of origin. With a guttural growl that turned into a roar, Freeman hurled himself forward against her power, hands ready to shred her body to nothing more than meaty pulp.

The edge of the darkness... I can see it. The ( ... )

The pleasure she was getting out of this sickened her. As he screamed at the top of his lungs, agreeing with her, calling them both truly alive at that moment... it almost felt as if they were having fun. What a horrible thought. Near death, her father held hostage, about to say goodbye to the world, so much carnage and pain, and the the two seemed to be enjoying themselves. There was something to the madness, something to destroying on another that felt like the first time they met, and what they had done soon after. A small part of Jinx was still fighting, screaming, afraid, struggling to take control back, but the monster was in control, a monster who was becoming bored with its playmate ( ... )

The power was unlike anything he'd ever felt, as Freemen felt the world spin around him... until he realized he was the one spinning through the air, reeling from the force of Jinx's abilities. He let out another whoop before his body collided with a steel support beam... and the shattering crack that reverberated through his body was nothing compared to the shriek of steel as it twisted and warped from the impact.

He kept moving like a rag doll, control over his momentum given to the forces of chaos. Pain screamed in his body with every blow he took - from debris, from the building, from the force itself - as he felt his bones crack, break, and shatter. His muscles tore the longer he was pounded with Jinx's energies, his ligaments and tendons shaking loose from their moorings as he tried to withstand the maelstrom of power. And yet, for all the pain in his body, for all the inability to do anything, Freeman's face was a death mask of serenity. His eyes were lucid, his mouth cocked into a content smile, even as blood trickled from ( ... )

Death, she embraced it, felt it rush through her, that sweet pain that pulled her closer and closer to the edge. Control was something she could barely grasp onto. Screaming, the pain consuming her, she fought to hold back from tearing apart the entire warehouse, from turning it into nothing but a crater by the sea. That much power would have torn her apart... and destroyed her father. With one, loud shriek, she felt the largest of forces explode away from her. Tightly, she grasped at her head, fighting to hold the damn thing together. If she let go, it felt like it would tear apart. The girl was floating several feet from the ground, in a ball, trying to make everything stop... and all too suddenly... it didBright glowing eyes unveiled themselves to watch her boogeyman against the wall fall forward. Gasping, the power cut off in her mind, letting her fall to the concrete floor as well. Breathing heavy, shaking, she heard nothing in the room... it was too silent, too goddamn silent. His bloody body was before her, limp, unmoving, and ( ... )

Her body was numb, probably from the loss of blood, from the pain that seeped out of her through every wound. Closing her eyes, she felt death come close to her body. Freeman's form began to lose its heat, and she felt that bony chill up the back of her neck. She was slipping away from this world. She was not ready, but it felt like her time. Jinx went out saving her father, and that was all she wanted in this world: to love someone so much to be able to die nobly for him. Laying there in a silence, clutching Freeman's bloody heart, she began to feel nothing. Maybe that was all death was... just nothing. Maybe there was no place for those in this Italian city built on blood and pain. Maybe they had all suffered enough, yet deserved no happiness, so they just faded away ( ... )

He had watched it all... from beginning to end. And he might've come to pick her bloody mess of a body right up once it was all said and done, after the building was destroyed... but he figured he needed to give the young woman her moment. Urahara, hidden to the shadows finally decided to act... and appeared by the young woman from what seemed out of nowhere.

He turned towards her, not making contact with her quite yet, knowing her body was perhaps either in a state of shock or utter exhaustment. He had surveyed the area... Ukitake was close... but... the girl...

Someone was there. Crying out sharply into the night, Jinx forced herself to her feet. Everything was spinning, she fought to hold onto anything in this world, to keep herself conscious, to try and stay that way until she saw her father wheeled safely into an ambulance. Looking up, she saw in her blurred vision a man she did not recognize at first, but the hat gave him away. In a few steps, she stumbled forward, falling against him, staining his clothes with the profuse amounts of blood her body spilled. She was shaking badly as she wrapped her left arm around him, holding Freeman's head beside her, his heart behind this man's back. Human contact... she was still alive.

"I thought I told you... I would not tolerate... any interruptions..." A human heartbeat, she could hear a human heartbeat. This was real. What had just happened was real. Freeman was dead, and her father... Jushirou. "Go... find my father... and don't go anywhere near my kill!" her words were calm until the last two, a feral snarl, her fist tangling in Freeman's hair ( ... )

"No... no hospital... I've called the AMC... they're sending... ambulance..." If he had not been holding her, she would have fallen to the ground again. Her body was limp in his arms, her remaining strength being used to keep one breathing and grasp onto her trophies. "AMC... Komui Lee... he... can fix Papa... I need to make sure... he gets... there... I need t--" she began coughing again, sputtering blood onto his chest, barely able to catch her breath. Freeman's hand had penetrated though her body, almost into her stomach. Her ribs were fragments, parts of them sticking through her flesh, out in the open for the world to see. The leather of her suit had grafted over her wounds like a skin, since much of her torso seemed to be deprived of it.

"What do you... mean... is it... safe?" It was getting difficult to feel her limbs now, but she was determined to stay awake. If death was not going to claim Jinx tonight, she would not let weakness take over. "Komui... can fix me... bastard... might take me apart first... but he... can fix ( ... )
