Yuffie had been there for about an hour already, she liked to be the one being met, not the one doing the meeting...at least that what she told herself when in actuality it had been more like her apartment still didn't have powe, the internet over there was down, and she had really really needed coffee and to cool down after she had fought with her landlord again. If that man didn't want to do the up keep he shouldnt be renting the place out. She had put her computor away a bit before 8:00

Yuffie saw him walk up and she smiled in greeting.

"Yep! That's me! It's okay I came early on perpose...no net at my place" she said pointing to the laptop bag beside her. " So Al, can I call ya that? Lets put our cards on the table I'm ready when you are."

"Probably best if you do."

He slid into a seat across from her. While next to her would honestly be a safer distance to converse at, it was less diplomatic, and, honestly, he was never one to do everything by the book.

"So... you wanted to know my profession. While you may advertise yours..."

He shrugged, smiling roguishly.

"Well, let's just say I'm in the same line of work, but don't like to advertise that way."

She smiled back all mischif and gears turning ,Yuffie had guessed as much. the way he had spoken about his line of work...had suggested it.

"Well that explains how you could make enemies, I do that a bit myself. and it's never fun." She said off handedly, taking a drink from her cup.

"What kinda stuff do ya cover? Big jobs? Mob? Whoever hires?" She asked, it was rare to find anyone...remotely amiable in her line of work.

"Used to be a guilder. Then I came here."

He shrugged, leaning forward and lacing his fingers under his chin, grinning conspiratorially.

"Big jobs, anonymous hires. Sometimes personal stuff, sometimes just for fun, for the rush of it all. Never take jobs against the Families, though. I may like risk, but I'm not stupid. You? Solo artist, right?"

It wasn't like he was planning to team up with her or anything. More just... a sense of camaraderie. Professional rapport and all.

"Yep, I like to choose my jobs, I didn't for a long time so...." She leaned into the conspiracy resting her head on her hand.

"Yeah but there is no way in hell I'd work for or against the families. I also have a certain...like of personal jobs. I also am rather notorious for not being a good person to forget to pay."

"That's where most of my enemies come from."

X laughed and grinned.

"Let me guess, they 'forget' to pay you, you just steal what they should have paid you, anyway, with a little extra for the additional work?"

It was, after all, what he had done. He hadn't been double-crossed that often, but those times he was, he certainly had made his employers-- who weren't as anonymous to him as he let them believe they were-- regret the foolish decision.

"Yep! That's exactly the case!" Yuffie smiled in a way that would have been almost evil if she wasn't as good natured.

"And for the partcularly not to nice occasionally I toss files the way of who ever is looking for them. My...bosses...they tend to be a little in trouble with the law."

"So Al, How long have you been in the biz?" Yuffie asked grabbing her cup again and swishing the coffee around in the cup.

He smirked. Well, that was one way to deal with enemies. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to have some leverage if the AMC ever caught up with him, though he honestly doubted that.

"I couldn't imagine why, given our line of work. And I suppose I've been at it... well, almost as far back as I can remember. Started out on the lowest rung. You?"

"Gang when I was a kid. I think I was thirteen?" She paused thinking. "I'm not entirely sure but I was kinda the little sister." Her smile faltered slightly as she thought about her friends. How long had it been?

"But yeah...that went to hell and I've been on my own ever since."

"Your own choice, or ...?"

Thirteen. Interesting age. Most kids who entered at that age were either forced to it by a sudden change in fortunes, or ran away from home and joined one for the adventure of it. Or was she a more unusual case?

"Well... city like this, nothing lasts forever. Especially not anything from youth."

"Nope, I was younger, so I didn't get hauled off when everyone got caught." She sighed. Those guys just....god, she missed them. All of them.

"No kidding, this place breaks people, I've seen it happen so many times." She thought of the people she had watched rot in this hell hole. There were still people still breaking themselves here.

"Hey, at least you made it out alright."

Truthfully, if the others couldn't escape, either by skill or by luck-- for luck, in a city like this, was just as much an ability as speed, or deft hands, or a quick mind-- they probably wouldn't have lasted as long as Yuffie had anyway. They would have all fallen sooner or later, either thrown in jail to rot, lacking any powerful backers, or gunned down, either by the Mafias or the Commission.

"Looks like it's about to break more. You hear word on the streets? New stuff... never good news. Especially for us neutrals."

He was, of course, referring to the White Anemone, but wasn't about to say it out loud. That would draw attention, bad attention, even in a place like this, where everyone more or less ignored what everyone else said. It'd be like dropping "Monacello" or "Vescovo". Stupid.

"Yeah." She had cut ties with...well she had ties with everyone. So she had no idea how any of the old gang were.

"Oh....OH!" Yuffie took a moment to catch on to the slight difference in the conversation. "Yeah, I had a kid I know...well it happened right? Barely could remember his own name. Let alone what to do." God poor Roxas.

"I'm just worried that jobs are gonna happen with that as a collateral, and I'm not gonna know until the deal has gone through." She sighed honestly deflating n her mood for the first time since the conversation started.

"It's getting dangerous, and I have only seen a couple of maybe leads on what is going on. Nothing too major. But still, you'd think ther ewould be more info right?"

Yuffie leaned a little further in.

"Just between you and me I'm a little more worried about what is in this stuff in the long term." She knew this shit was dangerous, but the high was such a spike, that to some it was worth the risk. Sure she had dabbled in some really tame stuff, but only from Aeris.

"It's fucking people up in the short term something awful, and it seems like it can be slipped into things....so everyone has got to be careful. There hasn't even been a good leak yet. Normally you can get better info then this but...." She shook her head, this was getting to be a mess.

Far too much of a mess for her liking.

"Does it matter? The people who are supposed to do something about it can't, with their rules and regulations and lack of manpower-- sure, they've been working on manufacturing aces to hide up their sleeves, but half of them are corrupt, anyway, and everything said and done, the fact that they, out of everyone, have to follow the rules, means they'll never win ( ... )
