WHO: Kazutaka Muraki [ medico_male ], Kristoph Gavin [ myscarsmiles ], Rhode Kamelot [ dolcezzamacabra ]
WHAT: Waking up after the nightmare
WHERE: Muraki's Clinic, then Kristoph's house
WHEN: Day 123

Nobody else knew he'd come back to town early. His car was quickly moved back to the airport parking lot and Muraki took care to make sure that no lights in his apartment or clinic were visible from the outside. The drug had more than exceeded his expectations for it, but since he figured it would wear off soon, he'd taken Rhode to a room in the clinic, bandaged her wounds, dressed her in a hospital gown, and hooked her up to an IV.

He sat by the bed, looking quite concerned and as if he hadn't slept at all in two days.

Waking up was a painful experience- Dazed and aching, Rhode opened her eyes with no recollection of the past few days. The unfamiliar room seemed to startle her, making her try to move, but her muscles refused. A whine of pain was the only sound that escaped as she sank back to the pillow, breathing heavy. Her throat... Everything. Everything hurt. She didn't know where she was. What was going on?

"Can you hear me, Rhode?" Muraki's voice wavered with forged concern as he reached over to lightly touch her arm. "You're at my clinic...you and I were attacked a couple of days ago." His healing made for a convenient way to explain that he didn't have a mark on him.

She tried to speak, but the tight ache of her throat discouraged that attempt. She nodded slightly, carefully moving an arm up. It hurt, but she managed to run a hand over her face. Nothing too bad- Just stitching on her forehead, bruising. She could feel her legs... Places hurt that shouldn't have, though.

"You have a few stitches in your eyebrow, but nowhere else. The rest of your cuts weren't bad enough to need them. I'll get you some water and you can try talking." He had to be sure he hadn't ruined her voice completely. Muraki played the role of concerned doctor very well.

The water did help, though it still hurt to speak too loudly. Whatever had happened, it had been violent- Hurt. How could she not remember... "What happened?" It was a soft question, pain obvious in her tone as she tried to shift her weight. It reeked of antiseptic, the scent turning her stomach.

"I'm not completely sure," he admitted. "We were arguing and a couple of street kids came after us. They hit me with pepper spray and hit me in the head. I blacked out. You were probably their goal. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you..." Muraki touched the side of his head, as if he were remembering the pain there.

Something wasn't right... It was hard to think clearly. "How bad?" She paused, closing her eyes. "Need to call... Kris." Wherever her phone was, she needed to let him know where she was. Tobi would need to be let out, if he'd been in there all day by himself.

"Someone tried to strangle you and you have cuts and some more...personal injuries. You got a pretty good hit on the head, too. I thought I might lose you at one point." He took a slow breath. "But now that you're awake, things look better."

"Personal...?" That would explain why her head hurt. There were so many cuts on her arm, though... "How long've I been here?" No real windows in this room, as far as she could see.

He simply nodded and hoped that she'd figure out why it ached between her legs by his reluctance to give details. "It's been two days, Rhode." Muraki yawned, still feigning exhaustion.

Not much was setting in right now. She just sort of nodded, swallowing harshly and whining softly at the pain. "Two." There was some dreadful realization creeping in the back of her mind, but it was some impossibility. There was no way, not with-

"Gimme my phone."

Muraki stood up, grabbed Rhode's phone from the closet, where the rest of her clothes were as well, and handed it to her. "I did all I could for you, dear." Did she suspect anything at all?

"Anything for pain...?" Her texting was slow, fumbling a bit- It took all her concentration, but she managed. Sent it to Kris.

She didn't know what to think right now. Something bad had happened, but she wasn't reacting outwardly. It seemed like it stopped right when it hit the middle of her brain, this panicked feeling, freezing. She had to- do something, but she couldn't. Not right now. Like this. "I should go home."

"I gave you some Percocet to help with pain. Your clothes are a mess, I shouldn't let you leave without something clean on." He looked even more worried as he watched her. Letting her leave to sort out her memories would be best, but Muraki still had to play his part and act as if she really had nearly died.

Rhode just held her phone tightly, waiting for the buzz of some response. I need you- Please don't ignore this time.

"I'll... when I get home."

She almost dropped the phone when it rang, too anxious to answer it. Her conversation with Kristoph was brief, but when it was over she felt sick with relief. He's coming for me...

"He's coming."
