Waiting Games / In Progress

WHO: Rhode Kamelot [
dolcezzamacabra  ], Sebastian Michaelis [
howcaniserveyou  ]
WHAT: A quiet discussion while they wait for the worst.
WHERE: Brian's apartment
WHEN: Day 96, Evening

She was getting tired of this game.

It wasn't the sort of fun you could have with most games. This was a waiting game. Hours and days of sitting and waiting for the ending that could change everything.

Late at night, she was sitting in the corner by the window. The sky wasn't black, and she couldn't see many stars past the bright lights of the city, but there was some fascination in picking out those tiny planets.

Rhode's phone was in her lap. She had it set to a proxy, reloading the general alerts page every few minutes, though she didn't touch it. That thing- whatever it was, looking almost like her, with dark skin and a scarred brow- did it for her, when she thought about it. Nobody else could see it, though.

Just like every other hallucination she'd had before.

Nothing new came up on the screen for the fifteenth time. She pulled her knees to her chest, shivering a little from imagined cold. It could be now. It could happen in an instant. It could never happen.

Rhode wanted to know. This uncertainty was frightening, and she hated being scared. It meant she had no control over her situation.
