WHAT: Kairi gives Ulquiorra his 'welcome home' presents.
WHERE: Kairi's house
WHEN: Day 95

One month.

It had been one month since Ulquiorra had left for Spain. It had been three weeks since Grimmjow had attacked her in the safety of her own home. It had been two weeks since she had last spoken to Ulquiorra before he’d gotten back to the city, which led to her being angry and hurt. It had been one week since her knight, one special thief friend of hers, had finally made his being known again.

It was amazing how many things could happen in one month: finding out she had a sister and that she really was Japanese, having her best friend steal a phone to replace another friend’s (who had also incidentally broken his hand around the time her own was still injured-if that wasn’t an excuse to bond, she didn’t know what was), and of course, getting angry enough at one Ulquiorra Schiffer to want to punch him in the face the moment he stepped through her door, was only part of it.

She had made plans during the course of the two weeks that she hadn’t spoken to Ulquiorra, her first one being top priority.

The night he had managed to piss her off was the night before she was going to visit Mello. She had tried to keep the conversation between herself and Ulquiorra as Grimmjow-free as possible, but when she felt like she had told him exactly how she felt about him and he brought the blue-haired man into it, she couldn’t handle it. Normally, she would’ve been forgiving about it, but it had been happening so many times, and it was even after Grimmjow had hurt her. So, the more she thought about it, the more she thought she had the right to be upset with him about it. After all, she was trying to help him move on, wasn’t she? It was impossible if all the raven-haired man could think about was the other man who had hurt both him and her.

Either way, she wasn’t one for assuming things about others, but she was glad she did about Mello. When she went to see him the next day, and after they had conversed a bit, she had asked him if he had a punching bag she could borrow, or something she could at least use to help build the strength in her left arm (she sure as heck wasn’t hitting him with her weak right hand, that was for sure), and luckily he did.

Kairi was aware of the fact that she would feel completely guilty after she did it, but if she attempted to actually cause some damage, the guilt wouldn’t be pointless. And she didn’t know what, but after Ulquiorra had mentioned that he had been involved with the labs and she had compared his wounds from his fight with Grimmjow to her own from her encounter with him, she figured something was up. She knew that her own wounds had been much deeper than Ulquiorra’s, and he had little to no bruises, while she had more than enough to spare.

So as Kairi sat down at her kitchen table, waiting for her tea to cool a little, she felt herself reaching up to her neck. Except, she didn’t grab at her necklace like she usually did-she didn’t have a reason to; she wasn’t nervous, and she had found her missing link to her life, thanks to Naminé. She didn't even have it, now that she remembered. No, she instead traced her fingers over the now-white scars that were visible over the top of her tank top. She probably should’ve put something on to cover that, but she had hardly anything that would cover them completely.

What would her clients think about the scars?

The redhead scoffed to herself as she lifted her cup to sip at her tea. That was hardly the thing to be thinking about right now. Especially when…

There was someone knocking on her door.

Standing and leaving her tea at the table, Kairi walked past the hallway and into the living room, catching a glimpse of black hair through the small windows near the top of the door. Ulquiorra, finally, she thought, an expression on her face that, had anyone been around that knew her all too well, would’ve been a small smirk. Oh, and it was.

Reaching out with her right hand, she opened the door, the smirk gone and replaced with the sweetest smile she could muster when there was rage rushing through her veins. “Hi there, Ulquiorra,” she greeted, the smile still there as she held her left hand behind her back and flexed her fingers slightly. “Welcome back.”

And with a muttered ‘sorry’, Kairi pulled her hand from behind her back and curled her fingers into a fist, aiming it straight for Ulquiorra’s face.

Hey, she warned him before.
