Search for an exit. I doubt it will be apparent nor easy, but the chances of finding - or creating - one are better if we investigate.

[ He really wasn't expecting anyone's voice to start coming out of the PCD, sitting on the couch beside him- he was rather under the impression he was having a quiet moment to himself to think, so, understandably, he jumps, knocking it onto the floor in the process. Oops. ]

Geh! Wha--?!

[ He vacates the couch, kneeling on the floor to pick up the PCD and stare at the person talking to him. He doesn't think he's ever met you before. ]

[ So embarrassing, he was talking to himself... ]

I don't even know where to begin, though, and I don't feel like I could do much, if everyone else here has been trying so hard...

It's as simple as gathering information - from the other people here, the libraries, or the Animus. [Though, yeah, talking to the Animus last time did a lot of good... 8| ]

Maybe. I prefer to think of as an investigation, in a sense. It's...the most I can do right now, but it's better than simply doing nothing.

[ He's been called useless by pretty much e v e r y o n e since he was in second grade. Even his Mom! His self esteem's getting better recently, but it still... fails for the most part. ]

But I- that doesn't help at all! I couldn't even step outside for five minutes without a moth eating my clothes, anyway...I'm just hopeless. [ He's halfway dodging around the investigation thing, you see. He's the type to bury his head in the sand when his friends aren't in danger- and they're not even here... as much as he wants to get back to them, it's not the same desperation. And he loses about 70% of his confidence when they're not around. ]

You can start almost anywhere. You could ask about the incursions made into the Inner City, and or search within the libraries.

It's a section at the center of the city that is supposedly very difficult to get into. The scientists once resided there, but as far as I can understand, they have moved.

And yes, you can find a water-logged public library at [x, y]. Another library exists inside a high school at [x, y] this location, but it appears to be looted.

I know little about them. Supposedly they are behind the creation of the rift in space-time and in that sense, behind our entire situation. No one knows where they've gone.
