Well, I ordered rat a big soft-busted Dollfie Plus from Mimiwoo to be Tifa. I have to search for an appropriate wig for her now - couldn't find one on eBay. And she will be hanging out naked for a while, too. rat will 'hate' that ( Read more... )

I know when I heard that girl say that (she was Shuuichi cosplaying, naturally), I instantly thought of you. *laugh*

I wish I had been there, so I could have turned around with my Gravi shirt blazing across my flat chest and holding Shuichi in my arms and arched an eyebrow at her.

I have to admit, I was with a friend at the time and all I could think was, "Dear god don't tell her what my pseudonym is."

The namebadges there? They had our real names, only. I kept putting my hair over it, I loathe having my name put out in public like that. It did protect me from a few rather.... exuberant YAOI fans, to the degree that they all thought I'd never heard of YAOI before.

There is so much Gravi out there! God, I remember when there really was nothing, to hear someone say that there's nothing nowadays amuses the hell out of me.

Urg! I would HATE to have my real name on the name tag!

Sure, there is a lot of Gravi out there, and most of it is dreck! Whee!

Exactly.

(I was actually at Sakura-con... holy shit, the con cliches are real.)

My first anime con was in Germany and it was surprisingly normal. Of course, I speak VERY little German so I was off in my own little world for most of it. :D

I generally don't like cons, they're just not my kinda thing generally. I do always get suckered into them, though. Some special guest, some strange event, and boom, I'm out $60 and a plane ticket.

I'm going to Germany in 2 months, actually, for my first Star Trek convention (Fedcon). *laugh* I'm not a trekkie, or even a trekker. I'm just a lowly fan, but the spectacle, how can I resist timing my trip accordingly?

Besides, Johnathan Frakes is going to be there, and a bunch of other guests to make a nerd quite happy.

Awesome! Germany is an awesome country, I lived there for seven months a few years ago. I was living with some anime fans and we packed up our bags and went to AnimagiC and Connichi. Great cons (Satoshi Kon was one of the guests, I almost died from excitement) and the musicians were amazing (Chibi Chibi XXX I think they were called, most of their online songs are in German, but they did remixes of well-known songs with lyrics about famous anime).

I'm not a big con person myself, honestly big crowds make me nervous and I had to retreat to the car to gather my wits a few times. Still, I'd like to go to Yaoi Con sometime.

Yaoi-con is pretty small, compared to Sakura-con. It's grown considerably since it was first formed, but even so, it's a niche culture yet. God help us, we've not even begun to gather in the naru-tards.

I went to Y-con in 2003, and then last year in 2006 -- where I met Onna, and we played with dolls and ragged on poor fanfic writers *laugh*.

I'd like to visit mainly because of how many of my online friends go. I'm kind of on the outside of the yaoi fandom; I dabble in a few smutty fics now and then, but I tend to cringe and back away from the squealing teenage fangirls. Besides, two yaoi fans in a lesbian relationship together is kinda weird anyway. :P

:/ Well, actually, I think Ycon is boring as hell, but most people who go aren't as antisocial as I am. Honestly, I had three reasons to go last year, 1) I was already going to be in the area and my hotel was literally down the street, 2) Onna was going to be there, and 3) There was going to be a huuuuge ball jointed doll meet.

I didn't go to a single panel or show. I paid fare for the whole weekend for those three reasons.

If you have friends going, you'd probably quite like it. But, uhn, Bishounen Bingo? Meeeh.

We were trying to go last year. We were offered free accommodation and had friends to meet there, and were planning on hanging around outside to meet for lunch, or maybe buying tickets for a day.

We'll see. We've only got to travel from SoCal, so it's not a huge distance for us to go just to visit friends.

I really like going to California, and honestly, while I dislike Yaoi-con... and uhn, admittedlymost cons, I'll probably wind up going again. I'm in love with Alcatraz, and damn that doll meet was gigantic. Short of a resin convention, I don't think there are any meets bigger.

Hah, I nearly went to SoCal last year. But It'd have eaten 2 days out of my vacation. I was going to LA, just, you know, because. I canceled the detour for about the same reason.
