So I don't know if it's been a long time since I've seen one of the older G no Arashi episodes or what but the opening, which was obviously pre-fight song era, was so nostalgic for me that I had to cap it.
So here are the options for the episode...
1.
(okay confession this one was used because of Aiba's face in the corner)
To help a lady who has a tree in her backyard that costs a lot of money to care for but has been declared a national treasure and can't be cut down.
2.
A barber in Harajuku who apparently dislikes the current days fashion trends and only does hair cut like this. (Personally I think they should have sent Sho to this one. I keep getting flashbacks of Chu being fucking awesome.)
3.
(capped because it has the man in charge of all this epicness. He's on the right. He's been with Arashi a long time. :))
A man who wants to learn how to whistle.
and lastly 4.
A tone deaf guy who wants to be able to sing in music class without embarrassing himself.
The entire in studio segment is rather funny with Aiba commenting on them having a wide variety of people they'll support and the rest trying to stand up for their choices.
Eventually they decide upon supporting the tone deaf guy. And who do they send to support him?
Ohmiya, Two of the group that don't have an issue with singing. I still say they should have sent MatsuJun along on the tone deaf tour. (I would be so amused...anyway)
Of course it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining if they did this by themselves so they call in a few other tone deaf guys while they're at it. (What no girls? How weird.) Also I think the guy on the left, my favorite out of the tone deaf members, looks like one of the fail hosts that show up later on in the series. y/n?
They ask them to sing out in the open parking lot and of course the first person they call up to sing is too nervous to do so. So after Nino comforts him (idk?) they decide to adjourn to the bus.
And there they all perform. No caps because it's kind of hard to convey their singing abilities in caps.
On their way to their lessons they're all singing and kind of bonding on the bus and it's really cool. I love it. Though the difference in the way the song sounds when they sing it and when the actual artists sings it is kind of funny.
Then they get to the lesson and all have to sing for the sensei. He says that a majority of they're problem is they're singing too soft. So he makes them sing with tissue paper in their mouths. (even Ohno and Nino). And it works and all their voices sound much louder and clearer than they originally did.
Then they use this tool like thingy. The sensei says a spoon will work so I'm gonna call it a spoonthingy. The spoonthingy is suppose to help them control their pitch and make them be able to sing high notes and low notes. when you sing a high note you should make the end lift up and a low note you should make the end go down. I feel as if this entire thing will be harder with a spoon but maybe that's just me.
After practicing with that they each get their individual time working with the sensei so he can teach them the song.
So then Ohno makes them sing their respective songs in front of a hundred people. I find this a little mean seeing as how one of them was too nervous in the beginning to sing in the parking lot without a hundred witnesses. (I love it when Ohno's mean. maybe it's just me.)
So who do they have go first? The most nervous one and my favorite, Hirai-kun. Smart strategy making him go first. Now no one else can claim being too nervous. Also he does a lot better than the beginning. So yay for Hirai-kun.
Next is Sasaki-kun. He starts out a little shaky but evens out and has obviously gotten better than he was when he boarded the bus earlier that day. So yay Sasaki-kun.
Next is Taira-kun. The one the boys are suppose to be supporting. They bring in some of his friends to watch and it's a really cute segment. At one point the camera cuts to his friends and they're all nodding their heads along clapping to the beat and mouthing the lyrics. It's kind of awesome. And all parties agree he has gotten better. So yay Taira-kun.
I feel kind of bad for the last two because they were hardly shown at all in the episode and even at the end their singing part is only shown for like five seconds each tops. But that's the breaks I guess.
In the end I like this episode it's really cute and I will always remember it as the first G no Arashi I ever saw. Also it's one of the few G no Arashi episodes that sticks to this format. Others involve dice games and picture memory games and finally air guitar but none of that matters because all are awesome.
And I leave you with this wonderful picture that I picked up somewhere. No idea where though.
(tell me someone has an icon of this...)
