Name five minor characters whose lives and histories you'd like to see explored more (in canon or fanfic).
1. Charlie, Power Rangers: Space Patrol Delta
Charlie is the red ranger of the A-squad, which goes missing in the first few episodes of SPD. Charlie is the first female red ranger in the franchise, and oneo f the first rangers to sincerely and truly turh coat. Somehow, during her capitivity with the Troobians, they won her over and sent her back to Earth to clean house. Charlie's a wonderful feminist figure, a tough villainess and an ideal "Dragon." She's very much a woman, but she's still tough and badass--a contradiction to Morgana's bizarre and oscillating gender role manipulation. What I want to know is why Charlie (probably named Carlota or Cheri legally; I actually have an "aunt" by that nickname whose name is Charie) was disguised as a man during the beginning of the season--the real reason, not Disney's nerves about using a female red ranger. I, with my feminist agenda, turned her into a soldier who felt betrayed and switched to a side that seemed to value her in my fic "Voice of Authority".
2. Chantho, Doctor Who
Chan You know, you'd think I'd focus on some temporary one shot villain with Doctor Who, like say, Blon or the werewolf in "Tooth and Claw," or Lazarus or something like that tho. Maybe even that jerk from Daleks in Manhattan. Chan but... No tho. Chan Blon and Lazarus and that guy from Manhattan aren't minor, and the werewolf is pretty open and shut tho. Chan No, the most "minor" character from Doctor Who whom I want to know about is Chantho tho. Chan Chantho is the assistant to Professor Yana int he episode "Utopia" tho. Chan This silly spoonspeaker is probably the cutest girl of the week I've ever seen, in the ADOWABLE sense, tho. Chan not only was she all innocent and adorable seeming, she was also fairly tough and badass and resourcefull tho. It's really a shame that we won't see more of her. Fucking Master. Chan I will always remember Chanto with a fond heart tho. Chan You'll notice there are a few places where I omitted the "chan" and "tho"; this was deliberate tho.
3. Dupica, Pokemon
Duplica was ADORABLE! And awesome. A talented ditto trainer and owner of the house of Imite (im-ih-TAY), there was something about Duplica's appearance in the first 40 eps of the Pokemon, which were shown in syndication, that told me that she would be back. Despite her being a completely random and very minor character. Turns out my instinct was right; she did reappear. However, there's something about her. She's so fascinating, she's so interesting. She's main character material, and I wish that it were say, her, instead of Dawn or even May. I want to know how she got into ditto training though--I mean, how do you get that into a Pokemon that has no real form of its own? She just seemed so real and so fascinating; I want to know more.
4. The President, Shadow the Hedgehog
I know, isn't that funny, the President of the United Federation as a minor character? But in Sonic, the poor fellow is rarely important for anything. In SA2, he does have a significant role, but a much different looking president appears in Shadow, presumably a successor, and he is basically Mr. Exposition/Damsel in Distress. All he does is sit there, talk with the Commander and his secretary about developments in the Black Arms invasion, and give rousing speaches. Oh, and fanboy Sonic and Shadow. Poor dude. But seriously, he's such a minor character. His role is importnat but he really is not. And I want to know how such a sweet, passive, gentle man ended up president. I think his name is Jason and he was a school teacher. Jimmy Carter started on a school board, did he not?
Willie, Pokemon Colosseum
There's something about this guy. He's the first trainer you meet, a pink-haired scruffy punk in Outskirt Stand who challenges you, saying he sees something burning in your eyes. You can rechallenge him later. He has Zigzagoons and Linoones and stuff. The guy is weak, but he's an interesting character. How do you end up being like him? Why does he raise zigzagoons? Is he from Pyrite? I WANT TO KNOW!
