New Roommate

Apparently we have a new roommate. Interesting.

You know, maybe I should get out and interact with people more. I might actually have more to write about in this thing if I did.

I guess that new roommate is me...this thing said I was assigned to 'Ci-Eksi'...wherever that is...I'd rather stay in the gardens...I've met this very attractive rosebush...*whisper* I think she likes me...

Suit yourself. I'd think it would get a little cold, since we seem to be fairly far north, but it's summer, after all.

You seem to be very... in tune with the garden. You're not a magic-user, are you?

Of course not. I'm a scientist! I used to be a botanist...I guess I still am, just a little differently. As for being in tune with the garden...I am part plant, after all.

Makes sense. If you haven't got a problem with it, I'm not about to judge. I'm not really in a position to, anyway, being a chimera.

What's a chimera? It's not another word for 'human' is it? Humans ...the ones I've seen here...they just look weird.

Of course they are the only ones I've ever seen so...

Not exactly... A chimera's a sort of composite being, several creatures fused together by magic. The practice is vile and generally illegal, but that never stops some people. I'm partially human, partially a golem - basically a living stone statue - and partially a very fast creature known as a brau demon. I started out human, though, and from how most people react to me, I'm guessing I still look fairly humanlike.

I suppose anything looks weird when you've never seen it before, and humans are no exception.

I'm used to ducks and dogs and cats and all the normal types of people. And whatever it is that the Liquidator is these days...I guess sentient water ...

You know, I thought nothing could actually surprise me after some of the people I've met, but someone made of water's pushing it, even for me.

He didn't start off that way. He fell into some contaminated water and came out like that.

Are you sure no one near where you lived uses magic? Because it's either that or whatever happened that made the rain carry diseases. Sometimes I get the feeling that nobody read up on what happened to this "Chernobyl" place before they put Econtra here.

Of course some people use magic! There's Magica DeSpell and Morgana McCawber that I know of, and probably a lot more. But they didn't have anything to do with what happened.

The rain does what here?

Ah. Well, I have to admit that magic's usually more known for craters than mutations, but it was a thought.

Magica DeSpell? Is that someone's name?

It smells like blood, and when people go out in it they get sick. I'm glad I stayed inside while it was raining.

If it starts to rain, then I might have to go inside...I don't know what that would do to me...

Was she... I'm assuming it's a she... Was she named that before she started using magic?

She's a she. And I've never asked her. I've never actually met her, either. She's just been in the Duckburg newspapers a few times. And Negaduck's threatened to recruit her for the Fearsome Five a few times, but he could never pick which one of us he wanted to get rid of the most...
