Thought I'd get you caught up on my BUSY week!
I'll start with Monday, mine and P's official 1st anniversary. I still can't believe its been a year already! Its gone by so quickly! Just after work, I high-tailed it home so I could 1) cook dinner for the boys, and 2) get all sexy-ed up to go out to dinner. Got dinner ready and then got ready - tight red dress, shimmery stockings, hair up with just enough dangly bits to look like I didn't mean for it to look like that, and black high-heels. I'm not one to brag about myself, but I did look pretty hot that night. ::giggling humbly::
P got home and he put on a tie and jacket and we headed to dinner. We arrived and all the memories of when he proposed to me came flooding back! I was warm all over! =) Our table was waiting and we ordered wine. We decided to pick a main and sweet instead of starter and main (which is my normal choice). P picked the pork loin and I picked the salmon. Yum! Then for dessert, he picked sticky toffee pudding and I picked creme brulee. Mistake. It was more like creme bru-soup! It was awful! I actually sent it back - and I can count on one hand how many times I've sent things back to the kitchen! It was a great night, regardless, and I'm glad we went out. (Although, I think we may go eat somewhere else next year!)
Tuesday, P left for an overnight business trip to Leeds. I worked and then that night, all of us in the office went to a FAM thing in Edinburgh at the Radisson SAS. It was lovely! My boss picked me up that morning so I wouldn't have to drive. That was a good thing - because he also took us all out for a drink and I ordered a champagne cocktail (never had one before and was always curious as to what it was like). It was champagne and cognac! But it was lovely and I felt warm all over after having it! Then at dinner, we went through two bottles of wine (although it was between three of us - boss didn't drive and one of us had red wine). I didn't sleep well that night. Weird - I used to sleep okay on my own before P and I were living together but now that we're used to sleeping in the same bed, when we sleep apart from each other, its difficult for me to actually sleep well.
Wednesday was my only day at home this week!
Thursday, I went on my monthly dinner out with friend H from Kinghorn. We went to our normal place, the Cedar Inn at Aberdour. I walked in a few minutes late (hard to get out of the house when the boys are home!) and sat down. H and I spoke for around 20 minutes and the waitress was in and out of the room, delivering food and chatting with people but we were totally ignored. I got up to ask for a menu and very off-hand, the waitress said, "Oh, the kitchen closed at 8." It would've been nice if we'd known that ...
I told friend H what had happened and she suggested another place, the Woodside Hotel just a bit further down the road. We tried there and YES the kitchen was still open. This was a very pleasant surprise! We got the greatest service and the most wonderful food! We made a discovery! We'll be going there from now on instead of the other place - where the minute the kitchen closes, all punters become strangely invisible!
Friday, I'd made plans to go to a theatre concert with new American friend S. We went to dinner at a place called Cafe Continental - yummy - and cheap - we got a glass of wine and a huge bowl of salmon pasta for (are you ready for this??) £4.99!!!!!! Yay!
Then we walked down to Carnegie Hall (the original one in Andrew's birthplace of Dunfermline) to see Fred Morrison - a very talented piper - he played the Border pipes and the uilleann pipes, which have (to me, anyway) have a hauntingly Irish feel to them. The show was absolutely amazing! I never stopped tapping my foot or some part of my body. We had third row seats and had the chance to meet Mr. Morrison after the show. He is from South Uist and this was his first performance in Dunfermline. He wrote a song after having visited the States back a couple of years ago. For your listening pleasure:

When I got home last night, I had a couple of surprises!!! We got a new sofa, recliner, and chair and a huge wall unit (I can FINALLY display my little pretties!!). Here's some pics:
That's the sofa - all leather, dark blue, VERY comfy!
The armchair
The recliner and footstool (they don't seem to understand what an ottoman is here...)
The cabinet - this thing is massive I can get SO much in this thing. Three big shelves at the top, three more behind the glass doors, another thingamy behind the solid door on the top. Then a big shelf underneath the top part with three drawers (one for cutlery) and three big storage areas underneath.
I was very happy about the new furniture - its comfortable, made by Ekornes (which apparently is a well-known maker here - although I believe its Norwegian), and the best part of it - all five pieces were free!!! P's boss's sister had it for around two years and redecorated and it didn't fit in with her new decor so she asked her brother if he knew anyone who'd want it and she just gave it to us. Yay for free furniture!
Well, that's me all caught up now - I think. Geez - I hope! I'll catch up with ya'll soon! xoxo
