1. Character's Name: Thumbelina
2. Fandom: Don Bluth's Thumbelina (1994 film)
3. Time Frame: Just after Thumbelina says she will marry the mole
4. Age: Physically she looks about 16. Though technically, she's only been alive a few months.
5. Background: Once upon a time, there was a lonely woman who longed to have a child to call her own. So she paid a visit to a good witch who gave her a tiny barely corn. The lonely woman was instructed to plant this barely corn. So she did and by and by it began growing! The rose bloomed and the tiny girl stepped out into her new mother's hand. She aptly named the girl in her palm Thumbelina.
Thumbelina's life with her mother was normal, or as normal as life could be for a girl that was only six inches tall. She did her best to help her mother around the farm and all the farm animals loved her very much. Every night when the chores were done and the animals had been put away, Thumbelina's mother would read to her. That night, the story was about a noble dog who saved a king from a wicked wizard. But Thumbelina wasn't interested. She wanted to hear stories about people who were her size.
Her mother showed her pictures in the book of fairies. Thumbelina was amazed and during the course of the conversation, our little heroine lamented about being only six inches tall. It meant that it was unlikely she would ever find someone to love her because she was simply too tiny. It was then she expressed her desire to be big. Her mother did her best to comfort her before putting her to bed. While looking at the pictures from her storybook, Thumbelina sang about love finding her soon. She didn't have to wait that long! Because Cornelius, Prince of the Fairies, came knocking. Though apprehensive at first, Thumbelina eventually accepted his invitation to take a ride on his bumble bee.
The pair had a marvelous time and when Cornelius returned Thumbelina to her home, they made promises to never forget the moment they shared. Cornelius gave her a ring and she gave him the forget-me-nots she wore around her neck. After agreeing to meet Cornelius's parents the following morning, her dashing young prince left and Thumbelina went to sleep, happily.
However that happiness did not last. Thumbelina was kidnapped during the night by Mrs. Toad, who had heard her singing with Cornelius and wanted Thumbelina to join her band. The next morning, Thumbelina woke up and was greeted by Mrs. Toad and her three sons. After a little convincing, Thumbelina seemed to entertain the idea of being a star and singing in the Toad's family band. That is until Mrs. Toad told Thumbelina she would be marrying her youngest son, Grundel. The family left to fetch the priest and left Thumbelina alone on a lilypad. With the help of a swallow named Jacquimo and the Jitterbugs, Thumbelina was able to escape before the toads returned. Jacquimo encouraged Thumbelina (of course through song) to find her way back home while he searched for her Fairy Prince.
And so Thumbelina set off with three little Jitterbug companions. During her journey, she met a beetle who convinced her to perform in his show at the Beetle Ball. He dressed her up to look like a beetle and during the performance, everyone thought Thumbelina was beautiful. But once the costume came off, they changed her tune. The Beetle released her and she went her way, sad and disheartened. She reunited with Jacquimo, who reassured her that Cornelius loved her no matter what the Beetle thought. With her resolve to return home renewed, Thumbelina and Jacquimo went to sleep.
Thumbelina's journey resumed, but it became clear that she had no real direction and was very very lost. Winter was upon her and to stay warm, she slipped into an old shoe and wrapped herself in the sock. By this point, she was convinced Jacquimo was wrong. She was never going to find her way home. Thumbelina falls asleep and wakes up underground in Ms. Fieldmouse's home. Ms. Fieldmouse was very blunt with Thumbelina and told her that Cornelius had died while he was out searching for her. Thumbelina was heartbroken but agreed to go visit Ms. Fieldmouse's neighbor, Mr. Mole.
There, Thumbelina's mourning for Cornelius continued in a song she sang for Mr. Mole. After the song, Mr. Mole took Ms. Fieldmouse and Thumbelina further into his tunnel where he showed them Jacquimo. He was unconscious with a thorn in his wing. While Thumbelina tended to her friend, the Mole and the Mouse conspired to convince the young girl to marry the mole and keep him company. Ms. Fieldmouse beckoned Thumbelina and she promised to return to Jacquimo that night. Back in Ms. Fieldmouse's house, the rat turned out to be a tramp and tried to force her to marry the mole. Thumbelina didn't give a direct answer and returned to Jacquimo. She monologued here and decided to marry the Mole. That was when Jacquimo woke up. After pulling out the thorn, Jacquimo left, shouting promises to find Cornelius. Thumbelina begged him to stop, but he was gone before she could explain that Cornelius had died. On her way back to Ms. Fieldmouse she is whisked away to Holloway's Keep.
6. Personality: Thumbelina has lived a relatively short life, despite appearing to be 16 stepping out of the flower. Her life was sheltered and filled with people (and animals) that loved her. So for the most part she was a happy, healthy young lady. She is cheerful and warm and enjoys helping others and doing things for her friends. Thumbelina is also very friendly and a true romantic at heart. She makes friends just about everywhere she goes. As friendly as she is, however, Thumbelina is not above being sort of snarky or sarcastic. Because of her sheltered upbringing and limited experience, Thumbelina is quite naive. People often take advantage of her kindness once they find out how inexperienced she is. Her confidence is easy to break and she is very self conscious about her height and appearance. After learning of Cornelius's "death", Thumbelina's personality changed. She became quiet and subdued and it was clear her happiness had died with her prince. She has come to accept that tiny people cannot do impossible things and there was simply no place for her in the big world. She still tries to be cheerful, but it's hard for her, considering she wasn't going home and the one person she loved was gone forever.
7. Previous Game Developments: n/a
8. Appearance:
Thumbelina stands at approximately 6 inches tall. She has blue eyes and a fair complexion. The dress she wears is long, but her wandering around as left the hem tattered. The skirt is turquoise blue, the corset is a darker sea blue, and the top is white. The sleeves are short and fit snugly around her arms. Her hair is a orangish blonde color and reaches almost to her feet and she has three weird bangs. She wears a dark blue band and a ring of white flowers around her hair. And her slippers are a dark blue.
9. Abilities: Thumbelina has no magical abilities on her own. She's not a fairy. She doesn't even have wings. So in every sense, she is nothing but a human being, aside from one tiny thing. She's no bigger than the average human thumb. Thumbelina can very easily fit into the palm of anyone's hand, and among other things is very easy to hide. She's seen sweeping and helping her mother care for the house and farm. So I've always assumed she can cook and clean, but is limited because of her size and simply being unable to lift certain objects because they are too big and/or heavy. Thumbelina is also described as having an amazing singing voice in canon and she's also very beautiful. At least to the little woodland animals she is. That's all subject to the opinions of others here.

11. Items: Nothing but the clothes on her back and the ring Cornelius gave her.
12. Weapons: n/a
13. Writing sample - Third Person Prose: She had made a promise and she intended to keep it. But Thumbelina was apprehensive and with good reason. Returning to Jacquimo's side meant returning to see the mole and she wasn't sure she would be able to do that. She knew the Mole wanted her to be his bride, and the thought made her anxious. But Ms. Fieldmouse had insisted. And Jacquimo was her friend after all. So she left, armed with more corncakes and her shawl.
Mr. Mole greeted her warmly and she took tea with him for a moment. Their conversation was friendly but awkward. They talked of many things, including Mr. Mole's fortune and how he had acquired such vast amounts of money and jewels. Big humans were such careless creatures. Thumbelina spent a good deal of the time twisting Cornelius's ring around her finger, before finally gathering the courage to excuse herself to visit her swallow. The Mole agreed and gave her a candle to light her path.
The tunnel was long, twisting in different directions with many many off shoots. But Thumbelina found her way. Jacquimo still lay there, unmoving and seemingly lifeless. Thumbelina stood still for a moment, watching him, hoping for the slightest hint of movement. Finally, she eased her way closer. "I'm so sorry, Jacquimo," she whispered as she draped a blanket over his torso. "I've been nothing but trouble for you. Please forgive me." A gust of wind ruffled his feathers and she held her breath in anticipation.
There was still no movement from the swallow and Thumbelina knelt beside him. "Please be warm, dear friend. Please live." She toyed with a loose thread on the blanket with a soft sigh. "I know now, Jacquimo. I understand. There is just no place in this big world for people like me. I just wish..." She stopped, her sentence trailing off and her eyes closing. Tears slipped down her cheeks and she brushed them away with a cold hand. "Perhaps I should marry the mole. He could take care of me. He could!" She looked around, nodding, her mind made up.
"I will. I will marry the Mole."
"You are joking. Marry the prince!"
Jacquimo's voice was weak, but firm. Thumbelina could barely contain her happiness as she wrapped her arms around the swallow's neck. "You're alive!"
Jacquimo groaned and pointed to the thorn in his wing. With a few expert tugs, Thumbelina pulled the thorn out and kissed the wound. And it was as if Jacquimo couldn't wait to continue his search for Cornelius. He jumped to his feet, waving his hat frantically before taking off with a bon voyage and a promise to find her Prince.
Thumbelina simply fell to her knees, her head in her hands. "Please, Jacquimo. Stop torturing me. Cornelius is dead."
14. Writing sample - First Person Prose: [There's some rustling, followed by silence. And then some more rustling.]
Help! Somebody please! Help me!
[Who's bright idea was it to stick a bed in the middle of the Mole's tunnel anyway?]
Mr. Mole? Ms. Fieldmouse? Jacquimo! Help! I can't see anything. It's too dark. I can't get out of this blanket. Ohhh help me!
