RPG experience: I've run a couple of games (Time, Space, and the Rift - a Doctor Who/Torchwood based game) and Vas Captio - a panfandom horror/survival game on InsaneJournal), and I've played on and off for about ten years or so. Characters have been both original and canon. My most recent canon characters, since they're most heavily played and more relevant, can be found on InsaneJournal: Andy Gallagher from Supernatural (brain_ninja, played first at Mirage and currently at Vas Captio; Shannon Rutherford from Lost (ballerinadreams, played first at Mirage and currently at Vas Captio), Sid Jenkins from Skins (emo_underdog, played previously at Vas Captio and currently out of play), and Kimberly Corman (cheatingdeath, currently played at Vas Captio. I also played Donna Noble from Doctor Who at Time, Space, and the Rift for a while. Not that I have any proof of it, but I have also sidelined as James Doakes from Dexter, Claire Littleton from Lost, and Finn Hudson from Glee, from time to time.
Your Fandoms: Might be easier to ask what I'm not into... Dead Like Me, Dexter, Doctor Who, Final Destination series, Life on Mars, Primeval, Skins, Supernatural, Torchwood, and United States of Tara being the flavors of the year.
How did you find the game: Viki, who just apped Connor Temple from Primeval, recommended it.
Who Do You Respect?: Aretha, baby, it's all about the R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

*No age is given in canon, so the birthdate is made up and the age comes from the PB.

History: Kimberly Corman grew up in White Plains, New York with her mother and father. She lived mostly a normal life as a happy and fun-loving child, teenager, and young adult. Everything was going well for her, it seemed, until tragedy struck when Kimberly was twenty-four. While at the shopping mall with her mother, Kimberly got caught up watching a news report about a high school student who had been strangled to death in his bathtub. She’d thought something had felt wrong about the whole thing and her discomfort was heightened when she heard gunshots ringing out. Realizing that she’d meant to meet her mother outside, she headed toward the direction of the gunshots, knowing that was where her mother was parked. When she got outside, she discovered that two teenage boys had been trying to steal her mother’s car and her mother had been killed while trying to fight them off. The “wrong” feeling, Kimberly decided, was that it should have been her.

From then, Kimberly tried to get on with her life, living with her father and taking a break from school for a year while she tries to get herself back to a less stressed out and mournful place mentally. For Spring Break one year after her mother’s death, Kimberly and her friends Shaina, Dano, and Frankie made plans to roadtrip down to Daytona Beach, planning to depart on the date that happened to be the exact one-year anniversary of the crash of Flight 180 (Final Destination, reference). Things began to go downhill from there.

When she was about to pull onto the on ramp of the highway, Kimberly had a vision. A bus from Mt. Abraham High School (Final Destination reference) filled with students drives past and the students are chanting, “Pile up! Pile up!” Kimberly also hears, on the radio, an announcement for a candlelight vigil for the one-year anniversary of the crash of Flight 180 and, when she changes the station, AC/DC’s Highway to Hell is playing. In addition, she sees a little boy in the passenger seat of a car slamming two toy cars together as well as a beer truck driver drinking while driving. The vision takes a turn for the worst when a truck carrying logs loses some of its cargo and a devastating wreck occurs, killing at least eleven people, Kimberly and her friends included. Just as a semi is rocketing toward her through the flames of an explosion yards away, Kimberly wakes from her vision only to feel a terrifying deja vu as small things from her vision begin to replay themselves in real time.

Blocking the on ramp to prevent the people behind her from suffering death in the pile up that she is certain will occur, Kimberly attracts the attention of a police officer on the ramp. Upon being asked, she explains that there is going to be a crash and that she saw it. On his request, she then steps out of the vehicle to talk to him. The crash, as such in her premonition, takes place in spite of her efforts to stop it and she is pulled away from the destruction by the officer just in time to watch her father’s SUV (with her friends still in it) being T-boned by a semi.

After meeting the people who were also on the on ramp at the police station and explaining why she blocked the way, Kimberly goes home with her father, broken, exhausted, and completely drained. The evening news features the story of the crash on Rt. 23 of which Kimberly barely avoided being a part. As a follow up, they tell the story of recent lottery winner, Evan Lewis - one of those who just avoided the pile up thanks to Kimberly - being killed in a freak accident outside his apartment. Kimberly, as a result, begins to research Flight 180 and it’s survivors and finds that the only remaining survivor, Clear Rivers, is currently being held at Stonybrook Institution, an insane asylum.

So, Kimberly goes, feeling the need to speak with Clear and find out how to beat Death. Clear, in the end, turns her away, explaining that Kimberly is at fault for the people on Death’s list simply by intervening in their intended deaths in the car wreck. Kimberly, angry, leaves to meet up with Officer Burke. She then has another vision - pigeons. Knowing that, after talking to Clear, Death is working backward this time around, Kimberly and Officer Burke hurry to find and warn Tim and Nora Carpenter. They are, however, too late and Tim, catching sight of a flock of pigeons, gives chase to them, sending them into a flurry which causes a chain reaction ending in a huge pane of glass crushing Tim.

On her way to a meeting with Thomas, to get together with the other survivors of the pile-up, Clear approaches and the three of them make a pit stop to the crematorium where they meet up with the coroner - the same coroner who explained the premonitions and Death’s design to Alex in the first movie. There, they learn that only new life can defeat death and that if a life that was not meant to be made it through, Death would have to start a new design.

At Thomas’s apartment, they meet with Rory, Nora, Kat, and Eugene to death-proof the apartment and exchange mobile phones in order to keep in contact with one another. Clear explains to them that even though Kimberly is the one who has the premonitions, all of them are capable of seeing signs.

After Nora’s death, the remaining survivors, along with Clear, head toward the police station to try to make sure that Isabella - a pregnant woman from Kimberly’s vision of the pile-up - safely gives birth to her baby. On their trek, they nearly collide with the van taking Isabella to the hospital (unbeknownst to them) when Kat’s SUV blows a tire. They’re forced onto a field where Kat is trapped in the vehicle and Eugene suffers a collapsed lung from the wreck. As Kimberly, Thomas, and Clear are tending to him and waiting for an ambulance, Rory saves a teenaged boy from being hit by a news van swerving into the field to cover the story and soon thereafter, Kimberly and Clear watch in disgust as Kat is killed when her airbag deploys and causes her to be impaled; moments later, a freak explosion causes Rory’s death as he is caught up in a chunk of barbed wire fence which was thrown by the explosion.

Kimberly has another vision as she, Thomas, and Clear make their way to the hospital in which she is being choked by a Dr. Kalarjin. Kimberly takes this vision as the doctor choking Isabella and somehow, by extension, killing the unborn child. After Isabella successfully gives birth, however, another vision tells Kimberly that Isabella - and therefore her baby - was never meant to die in the highway pile-up. Clear and Eugene’s deaths only further prove that the other woman’s baby was not the new life meant to end the cycle. She finds that she herself is the one meant to die and be brought back to life in order to end the circle.

The visions all pointed to Kimberly driving an ambulance into the nearby lake and drowning, so she does just that. Thomas follows her and somehow manages to pull her out of the lake, getting her back into the hospital where Dr. Kalarjin brings her back to life. The cycle, it seems, is over.

A few months later, things have pretty much gotten back to normal for Kimberly and she's decided to take the vacation she'd meant to take with Shaina, Frankie, and Dano, except in this case, she's going for something a little more laid back since she's on her own.

Personality in seven words or less: Complex and introspective. Happy and Sad. Exhilerated and exhausted. Alive.
How Others Perceive Your Character: Cheerful and bubbly, probably vomitously perky. To be fair, Kimberly's under the impression that she's cheated death not once, not twice, but three times and it'll be the last time she'll have to try for a long time.
Beliefs, Convictions, Morals: Life is short; live like today's the last day you'll ever see.
Reason(s) for Escaping to Canada: She's in Aternaville to have one last hurrah in memory of her friends from before the pile-up, only with a more laid-back and quiet vibe than Daytona would've had, which of course explains her high spirits - from a relaxing vacation.
Their DHAs [Dreams, Hopes, and Aspirations] for Canada: Kimberly just wants to pay her respects to her friends by taking the vacation she'd meant to when everything went crazy to begin with. So, really, all she wants is a little quiet, relaxation, and if she's lucky, some good memories to wash away the sorrow that comes with the memories of her last attempt at a vacation.

Twenty-Questions for the Characters:

1. What turns them on: hot guys; dates that revolve around cliches like walks on the beach, picnics, or sunsets; someone who can make me smile; having fun
2. What turns them off: any kind of discussion that revolves around death or freak accidents; insecurity; cynicism
3. Would they see a shrink: I've been seeing one on and off since my mom died...but then again, can you blame me?
4. Worst Childhood experience: When I was seven, I fell off the monkey bars (I was hanging upside down and her my slipped out) and landed on my head, ending up in twelve stitches and a patch of hair shaved off. So embarrassing in retrospect.
5. Favorite Film: Sleepless in Seattle or Lady and the Tramp (although I'm not totally open about sharing that fact with anyone; when asked, I usually say Old School since it's kind of the new, hilarious thing)
6. Favorite Song: Miss You Love by Silverchair
7. Favorite Word: Epiphany (it sounds like icicles shattering) or tomfoolery (because really that's kind of a funny word, if you think about it)
8. Least Favorite Word: Cunt (omg, such a dirty word.)
9. Favorite Curse Word: Fuck (What? It's totally versatile)
10. Best gift ever received: On my 18th birthday, I got my Mac to take to school. Everyone should have a Mac, seriously. Guh it's my most prized possession.
11. Sound or Noise they hate: Metal on metal (like a car crash). I still hear it sometimes in my nightmares...
12. Sound or Noise they love: An uncomfortable laugh. Like when someone's feeling all awkward. It's amusing, what can I say?
13. Do they know the answer to 64 million dollar question: If I told you, I'd have to kill you.
14. [Complete the sentence] ... All the world's a stage...and the show must go on.
15. Did Yoko Ono really break up the Fab Four: Psh, McCartney and Lennon did that shit to themselves, but I don't think Yoko Ono can go completely without blame.
16. Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee: ...I could make a Chuck Norris joke right now but I'll spare you. Who's Bruce Lee? Is he an action guy like Jackie Chan? Because that would explain why I don't know who he is... heh.
17. Half full or half empty: Used to be half empty...I'm relearning to look at it as half full.
18. Coke or Pepsi: Dr. Pepper, are you serious?
19. If they were a Jellybean flavor, which one: Um. I have no idea. But, I like the Blueberry ones by Jelly Belly. Especially when you eat them with the Buttered Popcorn ones because then they taste like blueberry muffins. Mmmm!
20. And, finally, if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? "Just sign here and then you can meet your mom in the spa, or Shaina, Dano, and Frankie on the beach." Or, you know, just point me in the right direction, really, to where I can see everybody I miss so badly.

Sample Journal Entry : This is the antithesis of what Shaina's point of going to Daytona was. We weren't going to relax. We were going to get drunk, high, and stupid, but the point of this excursion is more along the lines of closure. Meet some new people and have some fun, get some R&R and all that...and then I can move on with my life and go back to finish school. So...now I just have to make myself get up out of bed (because mmm laziness) and check out the area to see what there is to eat, see, and do.

...I kinda don't really know where to begin, but first things first. Get my lazy ass up and take a shower. Oh! Shopping. I should go shopping. There's gotta be some good shopping around here somewhere, right? Totally. My mom would want to go shopping, so yeah. That's something I've gotta do. Dano would smoke, so maybe if I'm brave enough I'll see if I can't find someone who'd have some pot on them, just for old time's sake, and Frankie would've known right where to find the best bar (he had, like, a built-in radar or something), so that's the next thing on the To-Do list. Oh, and at some point, I've gotta have a sloppy make out session with a hottie or a drunken one-night stand. Shaina would do that. Then I'll have hit all the bases and I can do whatever I want. Mainly? Curl up in bed with a good book and really relax.

So then. Onward, ho.

Sample RPG : The nightmares had calmed down after a while. Or, maybe in reality, they hadn't calmed down so much as lessened in their frequency. It had been a few months since the pile-up and the picking off of her newfound friends one by one and things were finally starting to calm down and get back to normal. Sometimes, she was still nervous about getting on the highway - especially if she saw one of those trucks hauling lumber - and sometimes she was still afraid of her own shadow, but things were getting better and life was starting to slip back into monotony. In a few weeks, she'd be starting up classes again and once she finished, maybe she'd be able to find herself a decent job doing something she loved and the nightmare of the past year and a half would be left in the dust. Part of Kimberly was hoping that once she was gone, the memories would stay in White Plains and she'd be able to leave them behind.

For now, Kimberly was going to take one step at a time and that meant starting with walking into the hotel room, unpacking her crap, and promptly finding the best place to go shopping that she could think of. Without meaning to, Kimberly had already planned in her head the order in which she was going to do things to honor her lost loved ones and if she'd thought about it, it wouldn't have seemed like nearly as much fun. Kimberly, in fact, failed to realize that she'd planned to do things that reminded her of said lost loved ones...in the same order in which they had died. Her mother had passed first, nearly a year and a half before, so she was going shopping first. Then, if her vision had been correct, Frankie had died first, then Dano, and finally Shaina. Shopping, drinking, getting high, one-night stand. And then, she'd be free to do whatever. Personally, Kimberly thought if there was a bookstore, she'd be in heaven, although if the scenery was as good as it had looked online in pictures, she thought maybe she'd rather just get herself back into practice in photography before school started again.

Lost in her own thoughts, Kimberly made her way to her room, opened her Mac and plugged her camera into it to charge as she unpacked. Today was going to be the first day in forever that she was going to really and truly let her hair down...and if she was really lucky, today would be amazing.

"Here's to you guys," she said somberly as she pulled three framed photos out of her suitcase - one of her mother, one of she and Shaina from high school, and one of the two girls, Dano, and Frankie outside Dano's place, taken less than an hour before the others had died. Frankie had called it the Before picture and they'd planned on taking one in the same place when they got home from Daytona. It never happened. "I'm gonna do you all proud, I promise." Well, sort of, anyway.

Anything Non-Canon that's Going Down with your character: I've pulled Kimberly from before the "epilogue," if you will, of the film in which she's at a barbeque where someone is blown up by an exploding grill, reminding Kimberly of her mortality, specifically so that I can give her a try in a less panophobic mental place in this game lol
