It's... complicated. No one knows for sure what actually happens and there are a lot of contradicting beliefs.

Personally, I think they still exist just as much as you and I. They just aren't here anymore.

Perhaps to an extent, but...

*Marco doesn't usually believe the 'our worlds are gone/everyone who's left is dead' lines (well, he mostly believes the latter) but he's kind of depressed lately.
He sighs. No need to get everyone else as depressed*

...'home' may not be what you think of it.
