And OMG I know! I was discussing that with kalikeca and we both could not believe it! And I was especially mad that Julie Walters (much as I like her) got nominated twice for performances that were nowhere near as good. Also - all the nominations were for biopics, which is really weird and suggests a super narrow focus from the committee. *shakes head* It was ridiculous, Maxine deserved it. I really hope she gets one next year or some other major award because she really deserves more recognition!

No worries about the ramble. Thing is, not giving her the BAFTA is one thing, but that she wasn't even *nominated* is pretty outrageous. You're right, she's a great actress, and deserves recognition.

Totally! In an interview with her I read that she didn't even get on the longlist for nominations so she knew she wouldn't be shortlisted for it either. WTF??? I think it's because the committee is often really blinded to ability by wanting to continually recognise our 'national treasures' so people who are amazing but not as well known tend to get overlooked.
