"I REALLY MISS THE FLORIDA DIY SCENE CIRCA 2002-2005. SO MANY AMAZING TIMES WHEN I'D LOOK FORWARD TO BEING IN A CAR FOR SEVERAL HOURS, MEETING NEW PEOPLE AND SEEING GREAT SHOWS. EVERYTHING WAS EXCITING. I CARRIED A CAMERA TO EVERY SHOW. NOW LOOK AT US. ALL DRESSED LA MODE DU JOUR, BLACKING OUT FOR TOMORROW. THE WORLD HASN'T ENDED. IT'S LIKE EVERYTHING WAS STABBED IN THE CHEST THAT SATURDAY IN MIAMI AND WE'RE STILL BLEEDING TO DEATH. WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LOOK BACK AND LAUGH?"
from brian's post...
...and i have to say, i agree. going to miami this weekend brought up a lot of old memories for me. i saw a few old friends i barely recognized. but i also met new people...and saw some great bands (sex vid, caustic christ, anihilation time, etc). i think i still have a lot to look forward to, maybe not in florida and maybe not with the people i used to, but i'm still pretty excited about the things i was excited about at seventeen. i hope this year's this is for you fest becomes something that three years from now i'll look back on and miss, i think a lot of the things that happen we take for granted until they become another facet in our nostalgic punk lore, but i try to be conscious of what's going on...i've lost too much already. and brian, those days are never coming back. as much as i want to relive 305 fest over and over again, i think it's been time to move on for a long time now. i could just go on and on...but i've got to stop. stop lamenting and start looking forward.
