All the seniors at my school are getting pissed because the new administration is only letting national recognized clubs wear chords. I was okay with the anger, until one of my close friends made a Facebook page and is starting a petition to get chords back (never have I been so glad Facebook changed so people who decline events simply disappear). I understand the anger, but really I think it makes perfect sense. Reward kids who went out there and did things, real things. Some idiot on there was saying how the Academies should get them because there nationally recognized but they're not. We get certifications, but the academy itself is not nationally recognized.
And as if some teenage angst is enough, now people are blaming our new administration. The new admins have made some new rules, and one of them is certainly idiotic (calling out people who have deliveries in the office before lunch and before the end of the day over the intercom even during exams). But, most of the previous anger was just teenagers complaining about change and missing our old principal with awesome hair.
All this confrontation is making me pissed. Strangely, nothings makes me angrier than other people getting angry over things I don't believe in. Also, nothing stresses me out more.
THE SMART COMPROMISE/WHO GETS CHORDS:
- Nationally certified clubs
- A 4 year program in which the student has successfully received a legitimate certification (Photoshop, Microsoft, NOCTI, ect.)
- Anything where the student has competed at a state level and succeeded
