i don't think this is so bad. and i don't mean this in the "jerk" way...

i saw this commercial a while back and i clearly see that the point they are at least trying to convey is that this man was not ready for fatherhood. maybe they should have done more to promote an empathetic vibe. i dunno. it's the choice or conditioning of the viewer to take it further with "is the message here that he wishes the child were not alive?"...or worse...
BUT, at the same time, i have to quote george carlin when i say that children are like adults in one way: a few winners, a WHOLE LOT of losers. it's about culture, and in america (in particular) we have a very unusual way of worhipping children in all of the wrong ways that don't really help them. safety helmets don't really work well if a child hasn't been educated enough to not avoid stupid situations.

but this also goes into abortion territory where there is not a person alive who can answer for another person on this very complicated, multi-faceted subject.
however, i think when people are constantly walking on eggshells with what is respectful to how a person may or may not be respecting the integrity, safety, livelihood and such of children in everyday living (whether it be television spots or anything else)- well, the ritual of it all gets in the way of what truly benefits children and what promotes a healthy, loving and fruitful society.
i think the idea was to promote thought; not to protest children. and i think the idea was at leasy a degree of humor. black humor, yes, but it was supposed to make you shake your head at this dullard.

the guy probably should have worn a condom. ;)
