On Friday afternoon, as I was quickly trying to get the house cleaned up before Sabbath, I came across the mail that came that day. I was going to just put it away and look at it later, but I noticed my name on the top envelope. It looked like it had already been opened, so I asked mom what it was. It looked like something from school. Mom said she started to open it (she usually opens my mail) but she said that it looked like something personal, so she did not finish opening it.
Well, that got me really curious. It was from the University of Pittsburgh, but I noticed that it was from the "Office of the President." I figured it was just an announcement or something, but still, I had never gotten anything from Dr. Shields, so I quickly opened it.
It was a letter from the President informing me that I am on the President's Honor Role! I was so shocked! I did not think that it could be possible for me to make honor scholar in this program. I was on the dean's list at the old school, but this school is much more challenging, and I was praying that I could manage to get good enough grades just to be considered for the nursing program in the Fall. When my fall grades came in, I figured I would probably be on the dean's list again, but never went to the handbook to see if my grades actually made it. I really did not care whether or not I was on "the list"... I just wanted to be a candidate for the nursing program.
God is good. He so often see fit to give us more than we even think to ask for!
