[ Thobari-and-not-Thobari saw Spencer and smiled. It's pretty nostalgic, after all. They were friends. Once. Before Thobari lost everything and decided he didn't need friends anymore. ]

So you agree?

[ His stance relaxed. It's easy to trust Spencer. Too easy, in fact. ]

But you're not here to agree with me, are you? You're here for the twit locked in the closet.

I do. It was foolish of me to come here thinking it wouldn't be expected. I know you're a lot smarter than that.

[He glanced so quickly around the room that you might not have even noticed, then looked Thobari's twin in the eye.]

[Ok, what have you got for me? Hmm wow, ok, more than I ever wanted to know about the sadness in Thobari's past.. let's try more recent history... he's in the closet, to the left... this guy's got no wand and he seems to trust me. This is manageable.]

You know I know all about the stuff that's happened to you. You have a right to be upset. I don't even blame you for taking it out on him.

[He inched very very slowly closer.]

[ At Spencer's words, he chuckled. ]

You don't know the half of it. He hasn't told you, hasn't told anyone. The truth never got us anywhere, or any closer to getting them back for what they did.

[ His hand went up to his temples, massaging them lightly. A headache. He was so frustrated at his own foolishness that is was driving him crazy. ]

And then I see this idiot is here, wasting time, when he should be out looking for those bastards. All this naïve "kindness" and "understanding" bullshit is a waste of time! Why doesn't he see that!?

It's difficult for him... he's very weak. But why even bother with him? Just go and take care of business yourself.

[He stopped about two feet in front of him.]

[He's relaxed... he's not on his guard.... wait for it..]

I should! I should, dammit, but I see him here and it just pisses me the hell off! I can't leave him, the bastard reminds me too damn much of myself!

[ Just as Thobari was reluctant to leave his guilt, his not-self couldn't get over his idiotic kindness. It made no sense; that such a weakling could be around after losing all he had. ]

[ In the closet, the banging stops. ]

Stupid, goddamn idiot... [ Thobari turned to face the closet door. He looked almost sad. ]

Well that makes it easy.

[Spencer sprang forward and pushed Thobari's twin as hard as he could, so that he fell over and crashed into Thobari's desk. In a flash, Spencer had his wand in hand, pointed at the twin.]

Stupefy!

[Red sparks flew and hit Thobari's twin square in the chest. Out cold.]

And thank you for being about the same size as me... that made it easy too.

[He approached the closet, studying the lock.]

Hey Thobari are you ok in there?

[ Thobari, who had heard the entire exchange from inside the closet, sighed in relief as he heard his clone hit the ground. ]

Spencer! Yes, I'm okay! I-- He didn't do anything... Just locked me in here!

I'm never putting magical locks on my doors ever again.

Ok good... I'm gonna get you out...

[After studying the lock for a few more moments, he concluded that it was nothing that a simple "alohamora" wouldn't take care of. He tapped the lock with his wand and said the incantation. It sprang apart and Spencer opened the closet door.]

[ Thobari stepped out a bit weakly, examining the mess his doppelganger had left in his office. Things were knocked to the floor, plants had been uprooted... it was terrible. Not to mention all the terrible things he'd said. ]

[ Standing above his clone, he examined his fallen form. ]

Thank you, Spencer. I... should have been more careful.

You're welcome... and we can't always prevent the things that happen to us. Sometimes fate just... takes over.

Anyway, we've got to go get Kallen. Her doppelgänger made an entry in her journal and she's got her tied up or something.

[ Thobari still looks a bit miffed as he stares at his darker-self. The look fades the moment he hears Kallen's name, though. ]

Kallen? Oh my God, you're right! We need to get to her, quickly!

Alright, you're gonna be my backup, let's go.

[He grabbed Thobari's arm and headed out the door.]
