Don't ever go to your high school reunion

Hey World,

so interview sucked. whatever. It's all right. Last night, i met up with an old friend from catholic school that lives up here. He's an actor and he's doin all right for himself. He's performed at the Chopin, Second City, Steppenwolf, a bunch of others. Equity and all that. He was encouraging if nothing else. Saying that everybody gets here and goes after the big theatre's first, i.e. Goodman, Steppenwolf, Apollo, etc. And pretty much everyone gets rejected. Those who can stay in it and work up, do; those who can't, don't. It was a nice speech from someone who doesn't have to worry about that stuff now. He broke into the big wigs by taking over a guys part after one day of rehearsal at the Chopin, and getting a good review in the local paper. He also started as a bartender at Steppenwolf, where he formed a ton of connections and got to meet all kinds of guys: David Schwimmer, John and Joan Cusack, Mike Myers, Ben Stiller, I don't know, all these famous people. He gets to work with Gary Sinese sometimes and that's just crazy to me.

Anyways, so Tim, me, and Tricia, this other chick I went to high school with, met up at some bar. Tricia was an international business major with a secondary major in political science from Notre Dame. She finished in 3 years and went to France to work for big business. Decided she hated it and now lives in Washington D.C., working for a government agency that is rebuilding the political and financial infrastructure of some crazy country that starts with an M and apparently used to be part of Yugoslavia or Czechoslovakia or something. i don't know i was a little drunk by that point. People under the age of 30 should not have business cards.

And then there's Sam Roberts. I used to hang out with his brother, Tom, who was in my class, and Sam would come hang out when he was in town. They were these stoners from Canada that were never supposed to amount to shit. Now Sam's band, "Sam Roberts" is apparently doing all right. They've done the Leno and Conan slot and have the international tour and CD and all that. i can't believe that shit. Does anybody else ask "what am i doing with my life?". Whatever. All in all, it was a fun night. Inspirational, if nothing else.

On a side note: if anybody's ever bored and feeling spiteful, call this number and yell, cuss, hang up, whatever you would like: (312) 952-3888. This guy stopped me on the street last night, asked to use my phone, and i let him. Now his friend will not stop calling and text messaging.
