With that, Jono concentrates as much of the biokinetic energy in his chest at the monster as he dares, blasting the spot where he feels it's evil energy creeping through the surroundings. The blast doesn't have it's usual potency, but Jono figures it should be enough to deter the creature, if nothing else.

But the man was not her prey. Her target was fleeing, thus she slashed at the mutant again, tips of her talons trailing blood and knocked him aside to give chase to the running girl, howling in frustration.}

Jono, getting a good look at his opponent, couldn't help but swear. He knew he was diving into the unknown, volunteering to play rescuer, but all of the training he'd been through couldn't have prepared him for what he saw.
The monster caught him across the face and back, those few parts of his upper body that remained intact. He fell to the sandy ground with a thump, and didn't get back up for some time. When he did, the young mutant thought better of giving chase, knowing that his power alone wouldn't be enough to stop the thing, but he was nevertheless now armed with information. I's frightened by fire. I can use this... Jono thought, mopping his brow with what remained of his t-shirt.
He stood up, seeing the creature's footprints in the sand, and resolved to give chase.
"{If yeh can hear me, Beastie, it'll take more'n that ter put me down!}"
Jono ran in the direction he'd seen the blue fire, imagining that the little girl would've run that way.
