Personality: Saffron (nicknamed Saffy, though people seem to increasingly use her full first name as she gets older) is a smart, witty fifteen-year-old girl. When she first found out (at age eight) that she was adopted by her birth mother's sister, she was very upset, and began to grow fairly bitter and cynical about the whole ordeal (despite the fact that her family made it very clear that they didn't love her any less because of it). After a few years (and the events of the first novel in the series), however, this ebbed somewhat, though she still tends to put on a tough front and use sarcasm as a defense mechanism.
Saffron is relatively serious and very driven, as is evident by her quest to find solve the mystery of the "stone angel" that was left to her in her grandfather's will, and her tireless pursuit to find her birth father (... who actually turned out to be her adopted father; she was the product of a one-night stand). She's also very dedicated to her schoolwork-- she takes honors classes and gets very good grades, and often takes it upon herself to make sure her younger siblings are doing their work as well. However, she's not always entirely serious and well-behaved-- , though generally only at the encouragement of someone that she knows well and likes (such as her mischievous best friend, Sarah).
In the third book of the series, Saffron's little sister Rose describes her as "ruthless", a term that is certainly apt. While she genuinely has a good heart, her "ice queen" exterior often hides this from people she doesn't know well (an example of such behavior being her rather callous tactic of rating potential boyfriends on a 1-10 number scale, and immediately dumping any that are under 6.5). It's stated that a lot of her classmates find her intimidating, and possibly fairly unapproachable as well; few friends besides her siblings and her best friend are ever mentioned in canon. She doesn't shy away from verbal confrontation, and depending on the situation, physical confrontation isn't out of the question, as evidenced by her roughly beating up a boy who had picked on her brother, and threatening him and his friends with dire consequences should they continue their bullying.
All in all, there are two basic "sides" to Saffron Casson. If you get on her good side, you become almost a family member in her mind, and you get to see her soft underbelly. She'll also fiercely defend you whenever and however she deems necessary. If you get on her bad side, however, it's easy to see her as an arrogant, smart-mouthed snob; a bit of a bitch, even. For everyone else... time will tell.
Supernatural abilities: None; she's a normal human in every way.
Slash: She's pretty straight so it's doubtful, but I'm not going to definitively rule anything out.
Maim/murder/death: Case-by-case basis on all three.
Kissing: Attempts are fine; her reaction will depend on what she thinks of the character.
Hugging: See above!
Badtouch: She's fifteen, so I'd like the other character to be underage too if they want to try for anything.
Threadhopping: Sure, I'm completely fine with it as long as you don't hop into a log/commentlog (unless your character could logically stumble upon the scene or you ask permission first) or locked conversation.
Fourthwalling: I'm taking this on a case-by-case basis, so if you want to have your character fourth-wall her, just ask! In general, though, I'll probably say no, though there are a few situations in which I'd give permission. (This doesn't apply to Fourth Wall Events, of course-- any and all fourth-walling is obviously okay there.)
Backdating: I'll continue any old conversation/commentlog/log, no matter how long its been since the last comment (in other words, if you dropped a thread two months ago and now want to continue it, go ahead and I'll reply!). The same goes for replying to old entries-- though obviously, I'll backdate any responses. The only exception to this would be if you replied to an entry from before your character was in the game. In that case I'd probably delete the comment because it wouldn't be following continuity. D:
