Were I a more emotionally literate and/or conceptually creative person I might come up with an alternate system of iPod music categorization that more fully reflected the uses to which I put it (the music, that is):
Like colors:
Surgeon's brutal, blurry techno would be a dark red, for example, while the woody, organic drum 'n' bass of Roni Size a deep ochre. Fatboy Slim is lime green.
Or existential states:
The Handsome Family is the Cold, Clear Sight that Comes from Resignation with One's Mortality (CoCleSCROM); Poi Dog Pondering, on the other hand, is the Joyous Freedom that Comes from Resignation etc. etc. (JoFreCROM).
Or evocations of life events:
Enigma is the High School Heavy Petting. Queensryche, the Tentative Leftist Politicization. Blues Traveler is the First Bong Hit.
Any other ideas?
