http://youtu.be/VY67V0wOlz8 So I have to say that I'm quite intrigued by the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer. I kind of wrote this movie off because, as anyone who knows me well is aware, I really, really hate Twilight. I have no interest in seeing anything featuring Kristen Stewart.
But this is a surprisingly good trailer. Of course, the first thing that caught my attention is that the background has a very Inception/Tron: Legacy-esque feel too. (Interestingly enough, the first shot of someone dying in battle looks very similar to how people are derezzed in Tron.)
The trailer's lovely though. Charlize has great narration, there's lots of great artistic shots showing the way the special effects are going to be used. I'm excited to see Chris Hemsworth. I adore the shot of him with the axes as the Queen asks for someone who doesn't fear the Forest.
Yet, then we get to Stewart. It's still such a bizarre casting call to me. The comments on the video are either about how she's going to discredit the role (which is the camp I'm in) or the Twi-hards saying she's going to prove herself. I would die to know how she was cast, because it seems almost as if they're trying to pull both camps in to see the movie. I wonder if that will actually happen, because I know as much as I adore this kind of movie, she is a severe turn-off to me. I always hate to say that a single person ruins the entire movie, but I very much think this could be the case with Stewart.
I think this trailer does somewhat emphasis that. When the Queen is warned of her impending beauty, we get the shot of Stewart blindly wandering around the woods wearing her trademark partially-stoned expression. I also enjoy that when the Queen talks about her red lips, we see Stewart's lips--which are pretty darn pale. Odd, odd. Of course, it's also been mentioned that Stewart doesn't talk in this trailer.
I'll be interested to see what comes out of this movie. Still not sure if I'll go pay to see it in theaters though.
