Scanner? Digital Camera?

I want a scanner and a digital camera. And I can't decide which one to get.

Scanners are definitely cheaper and something that I can afford right now. If I get a scanner, I would probably buy one after I come back from my trip. Right now, I'm looking at this ($59.99) and this ($65.84).

But I definitely want a digital camera. I haven't picked out a favorite yet, but I'm looking for anything over 2 megapixel and under $200. If I decide to go for the digital camera though, I probably won't get it until the end of the summer, just so I know how much money I made and how much I will be able to afford. The two that I might like are Fuji FinePix A201 and Canon PowerShot A40. The first one would be suitable for my needs and costs $199.99. The second one is rather pricey ($299.99) but I like how it has optical zoom in addition to digital zoom. I have seen others that are cheaper, but like I said earlier, I don't have any that I've picked out yet.

So here's the question. Would I benefit more from a scanner right now (being able to scan all the pictures that I have, as well as the pictures that I took for my photography class, and the pictures that I will be taking during my upcoming trip) or if I should wait until the end of the summer, just before I go back to school, and get a digital camera instead? I can probably do both with the money that I'm making this summer and the money that I'll be making once I go back to school. But I would like to save the money. If I don't need both, I shouldn't just get them because I can afford them now. But I really can't decide because I can see the pros and cons of both. I think for the summer, I will benefit more with the scanner, and technically, I do have this cheap little digital camera for now. And I think once I go back to school, I will benefit more from the digital camera.

Any suggestions?
