"Seeing leaves" is how Erica described sex with Callie, realizing she was a lesbian. She explained it like when she was a child, she needed glasses, and she always thought trees just had these big green blobs at the ends. Then when she got glasses, she actually saw that they weren't big green blobs, there were beautiful individual leaves, and it was an incredible experience because she could finally see the world the way it was meant to be seen and see everything for what it was, etc. She explained sex with Callie like that because it was so changing and helped her to realize she was gay, and not just a little for Callie.
