I'm sitting on the citadel, contemplating life, making a point to waste my time..

So I'm Today's Tuesday and I'm 1/3 for the list I made myself of things to do this week. I did design Jen's tattoo but it wasn't very good. Luckily, she didn't end up getting it done on Monday so I have more time.

I did not call modern eye yesterday.

The one thing I did do was lay out today. Yaaay! I'm all red! Yaaay! It had been too long. I also read Lord of the Rings: Return of the King all day. Reading/laying out in the sun is my favorite pasttime. I wish I could do it everyday. Damn work. And damn autumn, winter and spring.

Also, I jumped the gun on my Wednesday chore--I went to Verizon today to upgrade my phone and get my own phone bill. I picked out the phone I want like 2 months ago: the enV Touch. It looks so cool on the web site. But when I got there and the sales person said: "Are you sure you don't want to look around first..?" I thought, yeah, OK, how could that hurt? Did you know that the Blackberry Storm is the SAME EXACT PRICE? Yeah. $99.99. And the Storm is way cooler, obv. The ONLY thing that makes the Storm pricier is the $30/month unlimited data plan. But I already pay $15/month for the sad excuse for the internet called "mobile web" on my chocolate. So it's really only $15 more. That's about an hour and a half at Starbucks. Maybe 2 hours after taxes. Per month. No biggie. So then I told the sales person, Janeen, that I changed my mind and I'm going to get the Blackberry Storm. And she walked into the back to get it and brought it back out and was about to ring me up for it when I thought: isn't the Blackberry Storm Verizon's version of the iPhone? Haven't I wanted an iPhone since it was invented? And if ever I was going to get one, it should be now since my two year contract with Verizon is up, obv. And so I said I'd rather sleep on it because I'm not good at making impulse decisions. And I even threw in: "Woul you hate me?" with a smile to Janeen and she said "No, not at all." lulz. So.. Now I should do some research. How much is the iPhone? How much is the monthly plan? But what I really want to know is what EXACTLY is an app? And can I get all the same apps for an iPhone as I can for a Blackberry Storm?

...

OK, so I decided just now to start my research instead of just blogging about it and found this: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2008/10/showdown-blackb/ It compares the Blackberry Storm to the iPhone in a table format comparing things like price and features. They look.. um.. identical. Except I just noticed that under the "internet" category, the Blackberry has "web browser" while the iPhone has "Wi-Fi, web browser." What does that mean? I just got this and had to correct myself. It's the $30/month data plan vs. Wi-Fi. But how much is Wi-Fi? And the camera is better on the Storm. And, actually, so is the price. The only question I still have is the one about the apps... Is that even a real word?

Anywho, I think I will go with the Storm. My ONLY complaint about it so far is that I found the touch screen really confusing while trying to operate it in the store--because it's not actually a touch screen, it's a.. press-screen.. Is the iPhone like that? And I found my fingers were to fat to hit the right links on facebook (I logged into facebook to see what the internet was like on it) but then I eventually realized that I could zoom in, so it solved that problem. And I think touch screen would just take getting used to, regardless. But then... How important is the internet? Is it worth an extra $15/month?

Maybe.. I should just keep my chocolate.. Why am I the most indecisive person on the planet?

Oh, also, I always thought I had unlimited text messaging and found out tonight that I pay for 500 texts a month. Oops.

9:15 PM EDIT

lulz I've been reading all the comments on the link I posted up there, and I found one specifically catered to the question I keep asking:

"Americans drive me nuts. iPhone was not the first good ‘touch’ screen phone, there were many in Asia before. Also - iPhone apps are ‘cute’ - but mostly useless - besides - there are 1000’s of Apps for BlackBerry already available. They are ugly, but far more useful. iPhone is good, but also a lot of smoke and mirrors."

All the comments are actually very informative.. Mostly what I've gathered is that the iPhone is the original and no one can compete, that there will be no "iPhone killer" just as there was never an "iPod killer." But I've never had an iPod or anything Apple and honestly don't want to switch carriers because.. Why fix what isn't broken?

So I think I will get a Blackberry Storm. I'm really excited now.. I'm going to feel so hip!

10:15 PM EDIT

I got an even better answer to the "apps" question: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/appworld/? I srsly can't wait. omj I get so quickly/easily obsessed with things. Speaking of obsessions, follow me on Twitter! http://twitter.com/marcinkiewicz
