I still have an lj?

I finally put my finger on the thing that drives me craziest about the Harry Potter movies.. Besides the fact that they all appear to have been created by someone who read the books once and made the movies from memory. It's that in every book, J.K. Rowling places all these tiny details that become major, important details by the end of the story, both within each book and throughout the book series as a whole. In the movies, by the time the details are major and important, they're being mentioned for the first time, leaving everyone confused--new audiences and fans of the books alike. Case in point, all the details of Dumbledore's life planted throughout Deathly Hallows that come together for a higher purpose when they finally meet Aberforth. In the movie, though, it's just like, Oh, you're Albus's brother, that's a painting of your sister, something vague about Albus abandoning your sister and mother, remember when we never discussed this before? It's not important, don't worry about it.

My least favorite part about DHP2 is that specifically. Albus's story was the most interesting part about Deathly Hallows. Before that it was like, who is this guy besides God, Merlin and Gandalf? Mostly, though, it's his relationship with Grindelwald that I wanted to see... I know it was all implied in the books but there are actors credited as playing young Dumbledore and young Grindelwald (were they in the first part of the movie? They must have been..) and I wanted to see their dark past, their quest for absolute power and immortality, and their romantic, sexy love affair!

That's all.
