Raphael: God is dead!
Me: How postmodern of you.
And that's all I have to say on that.

No, I lied. )

Woah, excellent in-depth look at this episode! *__* I approve! Let's see...

First of all, seeing that triple parallel was BRILLIANT. I never caught that, but it makes so much such now that you point it out.

Besides, the look on your face was like a claustrophobic who'd gotten stuck in the dryer. I think that's funny.
Funniest thing I've heard all week. I LOLed irl. :DDD

How have you never had occasion, you hot, hot dork of an angel you? Are angels blind, seriously?
Welllll, Castiel doesn't look like Misha as an angel. Maybe, as an angel, he is horrifyingly ugly. ;P

RE: Cas manipulating Dean/Cas swearing
I pretty much completely agree with what you said. We've seen lots of examples of Cas not being able to deceive people very well, but especially Dean. Personally, I think Cas has had an attachment to Dean ever since he pulled him out of hell. (Random note: Cas seems really young to me, for some reason. Like he's a baby angel, and isn't as jaded and cynical as all the other angels.) And as for the swearing, it did feel a little off and a little OOC for Cas, but I think that Cas was just getting into being Dean's partner. I think he was enjoying himself while working with Dean (I think Cas must be terribly lonely since he betrayed his angel brothers.) and decided to try and be a badass.

I still maintain that was The Rapture
AHHH YES. JUST. THIS. YES. YESYESYES. :DDDDD

I agree with what you said about Dean needing company. Dean is such a family guy, he doesn't operate well on his own. He'd probably go CRAZY, like he was in S2 after John died. Just killing his away across the country, no thought for experiencing actual human feelings. So Cas showing up was definitely good for Dean. :)

As for him and Sam being friends... IDK. We know the boys will be together again, like they were. Kripke has given us his word, and I trust him. But I dunno... Sam and Cas have been awkward since day one. And I think Sam might be/might become jealous of Dean and Cas' friendship. So... IDK. Guess we'll see.

Oh, and didn't you hear? The "Scary just got sexy" tagline was bumped for "We love to torture little, sad puppies named Sam! COME JOIN US." Sam is this show's punching bag, I swear. I can't wait until he mans up and decides to stop taking it (AND OMG HE BETTER DO THAT PTB!). That's why I kinda liked Sam when he was on demon blood. He had more confidence and was standing up for himself. Granted, he was TOTALLY wrong about what he was standing for, but still. He was TOUGH. We've never seen Sam be like that, but I gotta assume he was at some point when he was younger, with the whole Stanford thing. =/ ANYWAY. In short: Sam needs to stand up for himself and believe in himself and GET BACK IN THIS WAR. ASAP.

.....I think I'm done. Heh. ^___^

Thank you for the allegations of brilliance. ;) I'm wondering how closely they'll be following the parallel, you know? In any case, it's interesting. And I loved the connection with the journal, because--their father's book? The journal, the Bible? I like to died.

Maybe, as an angel, [Cas] is horrifyingly ugly.
*stares at you in abject horror* I shall not dignify that conjecture with a serious answer, so please, allow these blasphemous ideas to be run over by sheep.

Holy crap, Cas as a young angel. D'awwww. It sounds right to me. Cas wasn't very high-ranking--I believe Misha said he's probably just a rank or two above "private"--and if he was young, that would make more sense. It would mean that actually he was considered trustworthy and good at what he did, hence being given the job of fishing Dean out of Hell, and he just hasn't had as much time to acquire rank--as opposed to being relatively low-rank because he didn't have the capacity for higher rank, if that makes sense. Furthermore, it would explain why he seems to be more changeable than most of the other angels. He hasn't had as much time to get set in his ways, and so he's more easily influenced. I love how you use it to explain how he acted in the confrontation with Raphael, because it totally works, and it makes me want to squish him even more than I already did. (How did you do that? I didn't think it was possible to like him more. OH MY LITTLE BABY ANGEL CAS!) And definitely yes on him being attached to Dean since fishing him out, especially since he was then assigned to Dean. I agree that Cas must feel painfully alone since the events of the end of season 4. In fact, I want fic about it.

Heeeeeee, it explains his reaction in the whorehouse, too! Don't you think Zachariah or any of the older angels would have handled it with much more grace and assurance? Oh, and when he let Dean take him there (ha ha, take him there), he was GIVING IN TO PEER PRESSURE! Holy crap, now I'm imagining Cas as the slightly awkward kid in high school, going through puberty, completely average except for something he's hugely good at. Physics, or woodshop, or stabbing demons. Hi there, high-school-AU, didn't expect to see you in this fandom. *giggles incoherently for a while*

Ahem. Anyway. Yes, Dean is a huuuge family guy, and he doesn't like to work alone even if it has to be with someone outside the family. I'm reminded of my sister, who starts freaking out if she hasn't talked to anyone for a while. Dean's kind of like that. He seems to gravitate to other people. So yeah, I'm happy he's with Cas, instead of alone, or with somebody like Gordon or Ruby.

As for him and Sam being friends. Yeah, they'll definitely get back together (ha ha), Word of Kripke. No, I don't think it'll be the same--how could it be? Yeah, they've always been awkward. But I think Dean always considered Sam his best and only friend as well as his brother, and may have said as much if he'd been pushed to articulate it. *shrug* As for Sam getting jealous--heck yeah. Isn't that what they always say about threesomes, that you have to be careful, because it's easy for the amount of love and attention given to get lopsided, and jealousy is easy? This is why I say we need a good, heavy Sam/Cas episode. Fill out that last side of the triangle. If the show doesn't do it, I'm willing to attempt to flesh it out in fic! (Related note: The only Sam/Dean/Cas fics I've seen that work characterize Cas as having some sort of intense attraction to Sam, and vice versa. Often the Sam/Cas will come out before the Dean/Cas. Coincidence? I think not.)

NO I DID NOT HEAR THIS. Very true, though. We really like poking Sam with sharp sticks and watching him cry. Even more than we like poking Dean with sharp sticks and watching him cry angst. I have mixed feelings about demon blood!Sam, though. On the one hand, he wasn't getting beat up all the time the way he was before. He had power, which was why I think he kept going with it. Poor guy's gotta notice that the world made him its punching bag. On the other hand, he also lost a lot of the sense of restraint and morality that made me like him from the beginning. And on the third hand, while he wasn't getting beat up the same way, emotionally he was getting the smackdown even more than before. You just couldn't quite tell as much. *shrug* ...Be interesting to see the tougher, younger Sam thing you're talking about. Because yeah, with the grades he got despite his situation, and getting in to Stanford, he must have been very confident and driven... like demon blood!Sam, but without most of the downsides.

Holy crap, this is so long. x_x It's all your fault. Why do you have to give me so many good things to talk about, hm?
