Chapter 4: Wemp is devastated again

Nov 27, 2006 20:06

Wemp knew last week had been a bad one. What she didn't know, however, was how much it had brought down her grades. "Wow," she thought. "I'm pretty screwed over." When she showed her mom the music for District band, all the woman could go on about was the C Wemp had landed in math. "You will not be participating in any other band activities! BAND IS NOT THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS!" she'd shouted.

Unfortunately, it was really the only thing that mattered to Wemp. "Wow." she thought. "I'm pretty screwed over." Because, if Wemp could play the saxophone all day, she would.
And if her mom could stop her from playing at all, in the interest of preserving Wemp's grades, she would.

"Why can't I be like my brother?" Wemp lamented as she rumaged around under her bed for her iPod. "He gets as many C's as I get A's- and he STILL gets to play games on his DS all day."
Wemp was on probation as far as jazz band was concerned- one more C, and that would be the end of that.

So Wemp was devastated yet again. The End.

MORAL: only slack if your parents can't track your progress.
MORAL: "less-intelligent" can sometimes mean "happier", because you don't have to uphold these ridiculously high standards all the time.
MORAL: perhaps...maybe...band isn't everything.
