No Wemp Today

Nov 24, 2006 16:31

I've taken a break from Wemp today, because
1.) Jequae thinks that's a stupid name
2.) I feel like ranting, and
3.) My stories were begining to sound like the little tales in "A Girl's First Devotional" DX
---

I title this rant- Why the Media (namely television) is Stupid, pt. I

I was watching TV yesterday and got to thinking: Have a girl and boy ever been best friends for a long time without one falling in love with the other? Not that I know of. From Even Stevens to Spiderman this is always the case.
(I dare you to find me a counterexample. Excluding, of course, situations in which one character is gay.)
This is my formula for TV romance:
1.)Boy and girl are close buddies for a good while
2.) One goes out with someone else
3.) the other feels jealous/overlooked, and all of a sudden discovers his/her hidden feelings-which are way more than platonic
4.)Some how, friend #1's love interest gets dumped, and the two buddies end up making out by the end of the show. Happily ever after...
5.) Unless they discover that they have no chemistry, in which case they smile and hug and say "Let's just be friends," and things, supposedly, go back to normal between them.

Everytime this happens (the count is at 5 shows now, just off Disney channel) I...I WANT TO SPORK THAT TV SCREEN! (the sporking idea is borrowed from vantrika, by the way...;D)

It's just so stupid. Mind you, it can be cute. BUT SO STUPID!!!
It is NOT inevitable that you will fall in love with your best friend, just because they are a member of the opposite sex.
...Then again, I've never fallen in love with anybody, so how would I know? XD
I do know that I've had a few good guy friends and that the idea of dating them would be like... well... INCEST?
That's right, incest.

SO I am very pissed at the media right now. But I can't really type part II and III, because I have to get dressed to go to the movies.
...Where I will probably watch some romantic comedy during which the cliches I have just ranted about will be repeated all over again.

And guess what I'll say as I walk out of it?

"That was a good movie."
