I heard an internet commenter say that Moffat has a thing for given New Who's companions "old lady" names.

But Rose and Martha were from RTD era, not Moffat? I mean, he was a writer but wasn't show runner at that time.

Hmm. Good point. Either the commenter was grossly generalizing or I misremember her saying "Moffat" instead of "Dr Who writers."
