Madness slowly eats away at his reason as if he is all acid with no base in his blood to neutralize the caustic liquid. It dissolves words one by one, carving rust rimmed holes in his mind that taunt him with the things he has forgotten. Inconsequential words deteriorate first so that in the beginning he mistakes the odd absences for mere forgetfulness or exhaustion. Soon, however, whole concepts disintegrate one by one without a trace, leaving him anchorless in the chaos of his own mind, unable to form rational thought. Even the words meant to restrain, to force logic into a consciousness spiraling out of control, become corroded beyond recognition. You cannot decomposes into you can; you should not into you should; you will not into you will. Delusion erodes the boundary between desire and action as it obliterates all recognition of right and wrong. The words are melted and consumed until only one remains. Daren. No meaning or purpose is attached to that word, but it throbs inside him like a rotting abscessed tooth. Daren. Daren. Daren. Wordless, thoughtless, Tanim is left with only sobbing and howling to vent his incoherent delirium.
