Notes: This is set up as two drabbles that are meant to be read together.
Ron developed a habit of watching Hermione sleep after she became pregnant with their first child. He can remember the morning she told him they were having a baby. He couldn’t stop jabbering about it all day, but that night was a different story. He told her he loved her, and she fell asleep instantly, but he stayed wide awake. What if something happened to her while she slept and she didn’t know it? He had to protect her.
He doesn’t plan on ever telling her, but to this day he still can’t fall asleep without watching her dreaming first.
Hermione knows that Ron watches her while she sleeps. He’s never told her, and he tries his best to hide it, but there’s not much you can hide from Hermione. She first realized he was doing it while she was three months pregnant, and almost whopped him over the head for it, but then decided it was kind of sweet.
She never much liked being looked at, but there was something about Ron watching her sleep that she’s never tired of. She knows it’s silly, and quite girly, but it makes her feel safe -- even if she won’t admit it.
