It's Decemberists in July!...

- Went to In-Stock Fabrics today and got a bunch of curtain samples, so hopefully one will work in my room!

- Face Painting Session 2 of 3 today. Hannah Quigg was there! Wasn't too busy. Final session tomorrow morning! Hope parking will be good...

- Saw The Decemberists at Edgefield with dad today! The venue is GORGEOUS, kinda like the Country Fair in that "trees, tents, and people sense", but with a great amphitheater too. We got a great spot in the hill, but stayed in the shade until the sun went down. Saw Andrew Bird first, which is really cool because he's got a neat stage show! My aunt and uncle actually told me about Andrew Bird 3 years ago after they saw him in concert, but I didn't really get into him until this winter. (Mary and Todd are always WAAAY ahead of the musical curve. I really need to use them more often as a tool as getting into new music) He's cool because he'll play a snippet on his violin, record it, and play it back as he records a NEW snippet, slowly looping the phrases until the entire sequence is complex and haunting. Not to mention his music is catchy.

Decemberists themselves were AWESOME. The guitar riffs are so much more visceral in person, even if Shara is hard to hear. SO ROCKIN'!! After "Hazards of Love" they played a second set of classic songs like "Billy Liar" and "Oceanside". Decemberists always seem to pull out the random stuff for their concerts. Sure, there was "O! Valencia", but generally a lot more of the less-popular songs. We stood in the crowd for "Hazards", and then took our seats on the hillside for the second set.
