Okay, I feel a lot better after my last venting post, lol. It's good to get stuff off my chest like that and thanks for the reply Jen because it did make me feel better. :) I just printed out my resume and now I have to write that "Statement of Purpose" for this thing. It's weird because one minute I really want to do this Internship (and they only pick 5-7 people out of hundreds) and then the next minute I'm like, "Eh, whatever." Now, I don't know if that is me speaking or just my emotions that seem to go up and down, depending on what's going on around me at the time. And I wasn't going to tell everyone what the Internship is because I don't want to get overly excited about it or get my hopes up but here it goes...

It's an Assistant Directors Training Program through the Directors Guild of America. It's a 2 year paid internship in NYC. However, you won't be working all the time. Like with everyone else in the film buisness, there will be times in which the students may have to get extra work outside of the business (like waitressing or something) in order to make money. They don't supply housing or anything so I'd have to do that myself (and being as poor as I am, I don't know how that's gonna happen), and there are a few steps in order to be accepted:

First, you have to send in a resume, 2 letters of recommendation, the application, and a statement of purpose

Then, if they pick yours, you have to come to NYC in February to take a Written Exam

The hightest scores then get to come back to NYC from an Interview with someone (I forget who)

Then, they pick people from that and those people come back to NYC for an Interview in front of the board at the Directors Guild (that is, if doing that doesn't cause you to stress out and have a heart attack, lol)

And then they pick the students from that and they begin training in June (I think).

Dr Stemmler gave me a letter of recommendation, as did my Theater Advisor/professor from my community college, so that made me feel good. :)

I just don't know if I really want to do this or something else. I have so many things I like to do, but I have no idea which road to go down, so I am going down a few, lol. I've tried looking through want ads and those job sites online, but can never find anything, (except this is how I found out about that Internship), so I took it upon myself to just start emailing different places and ask if they're hiring and/or if I can at least send in a resume to them. Besides, this Internship, a couuple of small, local newsapers said I could send in my resume as did the Pittsburgh Public Theater. So who knows. I still might just get a plain old job at a place like the bookstore until something else comes along and who knows, if I were to get into this Internship, I could definitely save up before June and maybe find a halfway decent place to live in NYC.

I remember my last time in NYC with the drama club. Money was tight that year so instead of a fancy hotel as usual, we wound up in what I called Hotel Hell (but hey, that fits considering this was in the part of NY called Hell's Kitchen), and as some called it, The Bates Motel. The elevator was busted so we had to walk up to the rooms and JR Hall (our director and one of our teachers) said, "Get used to it because when you move to NYC, this is the kind of place you'll be living in," lol. Gee, thanks a lot J.R. :) I hope not because that place seriously freaked me out, lol.

But whatever I do, I just hope I can use it for the glory of God and hopefully use it to help and inspire others. So here's hoping and praying...

And in other news, I think Beth will appreciate this. I found it online a while ago, but don't think I ever showed it to you...

SIMPLE SIMON MET A CLAY MAN
Simple Simon met a Clay Man
At the Idol Fair
Said Simple Simon to the Clay Man
"Tell me why you're here"

Said the Clay Man to the Simon
"Ah'm the Idol, can't you see?"
Simon winced and said "Oh, no -
A pop star I don't see"

Said the Clay to doubting Simon
"Take a listen, pass me thru
Let people hear me and you'll see
I'll make top three....or two"

Simon faced his cohort
"Randy, what should we do?"
Randy laughed, "it's wild - he can sing
We'll give him a look that's new"

Clay evolved before our eyes
His hair was ironed flat
Took the specs and covered the frecks
And the Clay Man said "How's THAT?"

Simple Simon became confused
He didn't know how to mold Clay
So he started in on his tirade
Of mean, nasty things to say....

"I just didn't get it.... "
"Your performance was weak.... "
"Not really that great...."
And "I think you're a geek...."

He tried to cut down Clay Man
But Clay Man would not sway
Said Simon," I can't hit him
And he will not go away "

Clay Man sang his heart out
And kept stepping up his game
Every week he made us all quiver
And want even more of the same

Now Clay's a star, there's no stoppin' him now
Yet Simon's still befuddled and doesn't know how
To deal with the fact that it's Clay Man we like
Stick a sock in it Simon and please, take a hike

And speaking of Simon, I watched "Far Far Way Idol" on the Shrek 2 DVD. Gosh that's hilarious. And you get to pick the winner, except when you pick a couple of the characters, Simon will tell you that you made the wrong choice or that your choice is stupid, and then he gets up and starts singing Sinatra's, "I Did It My Way." LOL.

TEN random things about me....

10. I’m apparently a fan of guys with short, messy blonde hair…Clay, Dominic, Ty
09. I love nerds (Clay, Ty, Seth Cohen on The O.C.)
08. I’m a fan of Jay Leno’s Headlines
07. I’m an Independent…I think Kelly Clarkson’s “Miss Independent” should be my personal theme song, lol
06. As much as I love Clay, I only own a handful of things that have anything to do with him (and some of that stuff I got the other night, hehe)
05. I used to be an obsessed fan of figure skating and I looooved Elvis Stojko, Rudy Galindo, Philippe Candeloro, Surya Bonaly, Oksana Baiul, Alexie Yagudin (ahem, he made me swoon today, lol), and Paul Wylie (a fellow devout Christian!). I even have an entire 6 hour VHS tape of their performances and a figure skating scrapbook - actually, I still like them, but I’ve just chilled out a bit. I also got to see them live twice. And I am also becoming a big Sarah Hughes fan and no, that’s not just because she is a fellow Clay fan!
04. I've seen Pocahontas on Ice, hehe
03. Growing up I had to work for a lot of things I wanted. Nope, I didn’t just get a bunch of toys or clothes handed to me unlike my friends - and now I thank God for that.
02. My first celebrity crush was Corey Feldman when I was 12 - I even had a Corey scrapbook that I made and I used to dress like him - I know, that’s just pitiful - but I still love some of his movies (esp. License to Drive and the Lost Boys) :)
01. I love Dr. Phil - and his son is a cutie!
