I am finally back in University after the 3 month strike!
But I haven't stopped sewing just yet. I am attempting to finish my latest skirt for this upcoming meet-up I am hosting this Saturday. So far, I have the skirt base done. All that needs to be done is the waistline which will have a heart-shaped top. I haven't cut it out yet - so, the picture shown below is actually the back (which should be half-elasticized). It will have the overlaying black satin ribbon.
It looks similiar to the Sweet-Goth Batcat Skirt in the previous post. I admit, I am using the rest of the leftover fabric for this skirt. I actually hate doing scallops - but at the same time love the look and am obssessed with improving my way of doing scallops.
I have an obssession with deep pocket scallops. Most brands tend to use slight and gently curved scallops. They are easier to do between curves and thus, do not have as much problems when it comes to flipping the two fabrics to the right side. I am using a new method of sewing scallops. Instead of having two seperate fabrics: a facing fabric on the outside and the one on the inside.
I just fold it over, draw the scallops, sew on those lines, and then cut + clip the seam allowances from there. Its easier - but I need a better pen and method for making the scallops perfect curves.
Honestly, this design looks so classic I can't go wrong. It reminds me of something from Innocent World - just more Sweet Lolita but also with a touch of Gothic. Sweet-Goth!
Hopefully, I can finish it soon! I really need this done and I can finish it all within 2-3 hours with the headdress.
I need to buy more black satin ribbon...hmm.
