The parallels between the rise of Early Christianity and what is going on in some factions of Chabad is well known and has been extensively written and argued about by people with more knowledge that I have.

One way way to see this is to go to the book written by Shabatai Zvi himself in prison. But I think the best way to discover this connection is to look at the books written later by the false prophets of Shabatai Zvi and you will be able to see how so much of Chabad comes from these false prophets.
(Some of these later writings were collected into one volume printed by Hebrew university). When I read them I admit I was very upset. Because I realized that the teachings of Shabatai Zvi were the very model upon which Chabad was built from the beginning.) I think that professor Joseph Dan at Hebrew U. Has written about this also because i saw a note at the end of that volume i mentioned that refereed to some book Joseph Dan had written. and from the title it looked relevant but at the time i read this book i was no near enough to Jerusalem to go looking for him and to talk with him. But personally i think anyone looking at this connection would do well to speak with Professor Joseph Dan
