This means that today is this community's first anniversary. I created
onionlullabys to stop the flood of random people friending my personal journal to read my fics and even though I haven't succeeded and with time I've grown to adore it. It's my comm, and I love its name -
nubello can tell you all the anguishing until I decided on it, and you really really should read the
poem (
in English) which title I used. And then I had to find a good layout and this wonderful header
nubello made for me, with that quote that I love. - Bajo el sol de invierno means Under the winter sun. It makes me smile everytime I check the comm, and see it.
True I've never been what you'd call modest, even when I don't believe my writings to be good enough, I do think them to be worth reading. And yet I wouldn't have imagined that this community would turn a year old having the atonishing number of 249 members. I used to check other writers' communitys and marvel at the number of members they had, but mine has already so many! It makes me really happy, that so many people like what I write enough to join my community. I'm not that fluent English, so it probably won't reach you just how much it means to me. This community is my baby, but it would be nothing without your support!
So, to celebrate the year
onionlullabys has existed, I bring a fic! It's not much and it's not good, but I wanted to do something for this day and I realized it was coming too late. Enjoy it, please!
Title: What they say friendship is like
Pairing: HayaRyu - Friendship as if it was possible to be only that with these two
Disclaimer: They're not mine. Sad but true.
Rating: G
A/N: Unbetaed as per usual. I believe I can blame
nubello and why does she seem to be everywhere in this post for the quote about friendship. It suits Hayato, though.
There was a reason why Ryu did not like group dates or karaoke. Much less when the two were combined. His friends always got ridiculously excited when they got a date, though Ryu could not really understand what it had of exciting to be with a bunch of loud, annoying girls who clung onto them and insisted on taking purikura, singing boring love songs with shrill voices and made them pay.
Of course, he had tried to sneak away after school before the others saw him, but of course, Hayato being Hayato, he had noticed Ryu’s intentions, and so before he had even time to think about how, the smaller boy was stuck in a karaoke booth with five very annoying girls and an equal number of obnoxiously loud friends. Hayato and Take were giving their all singing an enka song, much to everybody else’s amusement.
Ryu turned around with a frown as he felt someone clinging on his arm and pulling. One of the girls snapped a picture of him with her cell as soon as he was facing her. Ryu frowned deeper, but she did not seem to notice, smiling happily.
“Now I have a picture to go with Ryu-kun’s number!” The boy decided it was safer not to wonder why was she calling him by his first name, nor how did she have his phone. “Ne, Ryu-kun, do you want anything to drink?”
“No, thank you.”
She pouted, but did not give up. “That belt of yours is very manly, Ryu-kun!”
“Thank you.”
The girl finally gave up when she realized she was getting nowhere, and left the boy with an angry frown to bitch with her friends about him. Not that Ryu cared, at all. But with Take and Hayato singing with one of the girls and Hyuga and Tsucchi flirting with the others, he was lonely and bored. He served himself a soft drink, taking a sip through the straw.
He bounced a little on the couch when Hayato plopped down beside him, grinning widely while grabbing a drink for himself. “You should be nicer, Ryu-chan. With that privileged upbringing you had you should know gentlemen are not mean to girls.”
Ryu made a non commitment noise, though he was grateful for his friend’s company, especially considering Hayato had refused one of the girl’s approaches - more nicely than Ryu, of course - to be with him. Ryu leaned back against the couch with a tiny smile. Hayato followed his sample, entertaining himself on throwing pistachios at Tsucchi, until the guy stood up to sing another song with Hyuuga. As Hayato saw the title on the screen he gave a happy squeal, flailing his arms and effectively spilling most of the drink he had been drinking on Ryu’s crotch.
Ryu hissed and jerked at the sudden cold, jumping from the couch to glare at Hayato. The guy smiled sheepishly at him, scratching the back of his head as the others burst out with loud guffaws.
“Uh… Sorry?”
“It looks like Ryu just peed on his pants!”
Ryu could not help a light blush at Hyuuga’s loud statement, and his cheeks turned redder when the girls started giggling along his friends. He stormed out of the room and toward the lavatories, slamming the door closed after him. When Hayato went after him a few minutes later, Ryu had taken off his uniform trousers and was trying to dry them off with the paper towels, without much success. The boy glared at his friend again, scowling.
“I think you have scared the girls, they left.” Ryu grunted something and tried to fight back another unwanted blush as he felt naked and exposed wearing only his underwear in front of his friend. Even more so as his dark boxers were wet too, though thankfully not enough for it to be noticeable… for anyone but him. Hayato scratched his head again. “The guys are leaving too, we should go before they leave us here.”
“I can’t leave with my trousers like this!” Ryu hissed, waving the garment at the other boy as if the dark wet patch was not already obvious enough. He fumed as he went back to trying to dry it, getting kind of frustrated.
Hayato snatched the trousers away, ignored the other’s curse and looked at them thoughtfully; face lightening up after a few seconds. He shoved them back into Ryu’s hands, grinning as he stripped off his uniform jacket.
“Wear them.” Ryu wanted to retort something, but Hayato just waved his hand at him, hurrying him to obey. He walked up to the boy when he finally finished fastening the belt, and wrapped his jacket around the slim waist, squeezing the air out of Ryu in the process but managing to cover the wet spot pretty well. “See? All done! Come on, let’s go!”
Ryu could only roll his eyes as Hayato grabbed his hand and dragged him out of the place. Their friends were already waiting outside, and there were more laughs at the sight of Hayato’s jacket clinging to Ryu’s hips, but since a couple of snarky comments about learning to use the restroom and baby Ryu-chan were met with cold glares soon his friend’s animated chat drifted to less embarrassing topics.
Hayato wrapped an arm around Ryu’s shoulders as they walked a little behind their friends, and smiled despite the other’s annoyed frown.
“Ne. Ryu-chan, don’t be angry! You know what they say about friendship.” Hayato made a vague motion pointing to the boy’s crotch and Ryu wondered if he really wanted to know why would friendship be related to his cock. He raised an eyebrow. “Friendship is like pee on your pants: everyone can see it’s there, but only you can feel the real warmth.”
Ryu blinked at Hayato’s bright grin for a couple of seconds, and then burst out laughing before he could help it. He bent over, tears prickling at his eyes as he punched Hayato’s shoulder.
“God, you’re so gross!”
Hayato laughed with him, smiling widely, and jumped onto his back. Ryu gasped, stumbling forward, and somehow ended up giving Hayato a piggyback ride as he rushed to catch up with their friends, already well ahead from them. Hayato tightened his hold on, resting his head on the boy’s shoulder, and Ryu was sure he should had not felt actual warmth spreading through his body at his friend’s next words.
“I’ll always be the pee on your pants.”
(Ryu dropped Hayato anyway, just on principle.)
Thank you, really ♥
